Things will be slow.

okay, things are going to be slow for expeditors right now. The three major auto makers in the usa are literally holding onto nothing right now. Gm alone is losing $52,000 a minute.

People are scared about the economy, they are holding on to every penny that they have, which is in turn not going to the luxuries right now, which is making certain areas of the economy doomed right now.

There is nothing that we can do as individual people. We can just sit back and hope for the best presidential, and house decision on what steps to take...

Time to sit back, smile, and enjoy the economy tidalwave.

Lean inventories are a good thing for expediters.

Get off your butt and go buy something. If you are worried about Detroit, go buy a car.

Time to sit back, smile, and enjoy the economy tidalwave.

Have some tsushi with you tsunami!

Hmmm, I was told when i got into this business, I couldn't make any money, I read it here everyday that business sucks and we are all going broke.

Now I can say that while I have only been driving for 10 weeks, I have made more money over that time then i have figured in my business plan.

So if this is bad, I am really looking forward to the "not to bad times" down the road.

Maybe its just me, i am smarter then the rest of you old timers at this, nnnnnnaaahh, I think its just that those that take the loads they are offered, make a few more bucks then those that sit and wait for the home run load!! but then again, i am new at this, what the hell do i know!!

Dennis...Its called "Newbee Juice" where newcomers just happen to be in the right spot at the right time for the first little while....of course this phenom is highly rebuffed by those in "the know"...I have witnessed what does not exist more times then I can count....yes i can count past my toes...if I could see them...;)

Things maybe slow in some areas, but not in others.
I deliver FedEx Smart Post to the United States Postal Service daily. The skids of parcels are big and getting bigger as Christmas approaches. Most of these items are from catalog sales and internet. It seems to me that people are ordering more from home this year and less from brick and mortar stores.
That is why more and more stores are going bankrupt and closing down locations. If this trend continues the traditional stores are going to be fewer and far between. I'm not really talking about Grocery stores as everyone needs food, but clothing and electronics could easily be ordered over the internet without the need for costly stores.
As far as the auto industry the Big 3 are going broke because of the union contracts and the govenment telling them how and what to build. The Big 3 has to pay about $78.00 an hour because of the pensions and health care of retired workers, While Honda and Toyota in the U.S. only costs them $48.00.
So of course the Big 3 are going broke. Of course the economy and gas prices had something to do with it too.

I don't want to buy another car. I have 2 of my own vehicles which are pretty much brand new, that I don't even drive. So, I don't think I want to make that decision.

All I am saying, there are people on here every day saying that this company is going out of business, and this company is not paying because of everything going on..

I say that you deal with the deck of cards that are dealt. We can't do anything about it.. May as while, grin and bear it.

I won't subscribe to the 'newbee juice" theory. Attitude about what they are doing plays a major role. Seen many that were on a "roll" hit their quota, laid down, then wondered wa happin'in when they lost momentum. Seems the Chef is the type that WANTS to see what's over the next hill. Many choose to lay in the sleeper in front of the boob tube or on the puter rather than be a bit active for a few hours. After that, "luck" will or won't kick in.

I would love to be out rolling the wheels again. Go back to orientation the first of the month. Can't wait. Good or bad, it will be fun. That is what I love about it. This is what I enjoy doing. There is nothing better than point a to point b, watching everything go by, and making money doing it. I just love it. Came home to go back to the government for a change of pace, and got stir crazy. Couldn't handle it. Need to get back out on the road.

I thinks what contributes to the Newbee Juice...is a new person is so gung ho and excited...they knowing almost nothing ...they sit where WE know/think there are no loads and they pull one out...
I think as we get more experience we can actually out think ourselves...we get stupider...we make moves based on experience that newbees don't have and we get skunked...

That "newbie" theory is very interesting. I know from experience that taking everything they throw at you is not always the most profitable thing to do. As a matter of fact I think there are some folks down at the office who would say, "Give it to Mikey, he'll take anything." Attitude is everything. Keep that fire burnin! There are people that "make things happen", people that "watch things happen", and people that "wonder what happened". The old dog and the new dog must remain able to learn a new trick. The more you know, the more you don't know. Thanks Dpatrick
