The TRUE vote

The Demoncrats who are trying to destroy our rights had better wake up. People ARE voting, voting by buying guns. People do NOT want their rights taken from them. Gun sales are running at very high rates, even in Newtown, CT.

Many of the restrictions on firearms that Obama and the controllers are pushing for were already in place in CT. THEY DID NOT WORK! Nor will they ever work anywhere in this country.

The more they push the harder we will push back. They had better learn.

[h=1]Newtown sees jump in gun permit applications[/h]
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Applications for gun permits have jumped in Newtown since theSandy Hook Elementary School massacre, which sparked a renewed debate about stricter gun control laws and a surge in gun sales around the country due to worries about new limits.

Newtown in recent years has issued about 130 gun permits annually. Police say the town received 79 permit applications in the three months since the Dec. 14 massacre, well over double the normal pace.

"A good percentage of people are making it clear they think their rights are going to be taken away," said Robert Berkins, records manager for Newtown police.

The increase in applications in Newtown came as firearms sales surged around the country driven by Washington's new focus on gun control.

Both sides of the debate have been well represented in Newtown, a town of about 27,000. The horror of the massacre inspired a groundswell of gun violence-prevention activism by new, local organizations such as Sandy Hook Promise and Newtown Action Alliance.

But gun ownership has long been a way of life in Newtown, which is home to the National Shooting Sports Foundation trade association.

A spike in complaints in recent years related to gunshots, primarily about noise and fear of shots being fired, led the police commission to propose an ordinance limiting when guns can be discharged and establishing a process for the police chief to approve shooting ranges, according to Joel Faxon, a police commission member.

Gun applicants traditionally involved hunters, target shooters and business owners, but now police are seeing a wider variety of applicants, Berkins said. Some said they never thought about getting a gun but heard their right to have one is going to be taken away, he said.

Berkins said he wonders how many of the applicants will actually go out and buy a gun. Only a few applicants get turned down for permits each year, he said.

Victor Benson, who owns the Freedom Shoppe gun store in nearby New Milford, said business has tripled since the school shooting. Some of the customers are first-time buyers, he said.

"It's just the mentality of people when you tell them that something is going to be banned, well they want to get one while they still can," Benson said. "We're all upset about what happened in Newtown, but it doesn't mean ... we want to have our rights taken away."

The killing of 20 first-graders and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School has led to proposals for universal background checks and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

The gunman, Adam Lanza, killed all of his victims at the schoolhouse with a Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle that he took from the house where he lived with his mother Nancy Lanza. He killed his mother at their home earlier and used a handgun to kill himself.

The FBI conducted more background checks for firearm sales and permits to carry guns the week following the Newtown shooting than it has in any other one-week period since 1998. The second-highest week for background checks came mid-January as President Barack Obama announced sweeping plans to curb gun violence.

The gun manufacturers and retailers are the ones pushing the "we're gonna take your guns" line. People like you are falling for it and buying guns in record numbers.

This just might be the most successful marketing ploy of all time! I love it.

I have received NO advertising in any way shape or form about buying a gun. Not from a manufacturer or a retailer.

Obama clearly said that he wanted a "BAN" on "assault rifles", mandatory background checks, even between PRIVATE CITIZENS, restrictions on magazine capacities etc.

One of his agencies, BATFE, has BANNED the importation of ALL semi-auto and pump shotgun that is capable of, or has, a pistol grip on the frame. That is EVERY shotgun made. The ONLY reason it has not taken place is the Rumbumlican's in congress defunded the program. That defunding expired on Dec 31. We shall see what the new "spending plan" has in it.

People are fed up and are voting in RECORD numbers, by arming. It is about time. A fully armed citizenry is the greatest defense against a run away, out of control, government. It has happened all over the word and CAN happen here.

Because I hunt and fish I receive ZILLIONS of adds to purchase equipment. To date, NOT ONE, has tried to get me to buy a firearm to beat a ban. Have you received any? I have seen no adds on TV about buying a gun and only heard a couple on a radio show on XM called "Free Talk Live" and most of the adds on that show have been for handguns, NOT, "assault rifles". Whatever they are.

How many have your received? From who? Which firearms? How many mentioned the proposed bans?

You had to quote the entirety of the OP?

The Obammunist is ON PUBLIC RECORD as saying individuals should not be allowed to own guns. Combined with his actions, that's more than enough to believe he wants disarmament.

It's kind of like the argument over whether or not he's a Leninist or socialist. Fellow Obammunists demand, "How can you believe that?" Two things make it possible: 1) everything he says;
2) everything he does.

Wow, I thought the craniums around here were a little thinner! It is called fear of loss. The strongest motivator in the Universe. Try to convince someone to buy something strictly for personal gain and you have an uphill battle. Plant the seed of fear in the masses, in this case "we are going to take your guns", and the scared masses will beat a path to your door to buy every last one of whatever they have been fooled into believing is going to be taken from them. It is the oldest trick in the book. The gun mongers keep pounding out the message that the evil government is trying to spread while the guns and ammo are being ripped off the shelves in record numbers. It's quite brilliant. If I were a gun shop owner I would be screaming bloody murder that "Obama wants your guns. Better stock up now."

Imagine a government killing its own citizens, then using them to push their agenda. THAT is the most successful marketing ploy of all time.

Not at all. It's like what Rahm Emmanuel once said: Never let a good crisis go to waste. As long as there are crazy or stupid people in the world there will be tragedies and crisis. A smart opportunist will find a way to cash in.

It is the realization that the People could lose their rights and freedoms that has pushed the agenda of resolve. Millions of the People have chosen to arm to insure that does not happen. The best way to control a government is for the People to be armed. That was the primary reason for the Second Amendment. The People are sending a VERY load message.

That is EXACTLY why Obama and Co. are hell bent on doing away, or severely restricting private firearms ownership. Their goal is total control over the People. People who can fight back are MUCH harder to control than the "Sheeple" are.

People who fight back will be labeled kooks and die martyrs for their cause. Those days are over. If it were as simple as keeping and bearing a firearm to "control" the government as you contend, there would have been mass bloodshed on Capitol Hill years ago.

The People are afraid, and for good reason, their rights ARE under threat.

The label of kook may be applied, but labels don't matter.

No one said it was simple. It is a terrible thing to contemplate fighting in the streets. Only the government plans for it and is doing so with each passing day. The People are beginning to realize that fact and are reacting.

FAR more People in the United States are willing to stand up and fight than the Marxists believe. They were able to spread their swill rather easily in Europe when the population had been controlled for centuries. It was rather easy in Central and South America because there was widespread poverty.

It is different here. Even now with a weak economy, we are still rather well off. People have a LOT to lose and many are beginning to see that. We also have no history of being controlled. We tend to be rather unruly and independent. We are slow to act and it takes much provocation to wake us up. Once awake, we act.

True, there are many who have been made dependent on the government, that was the plan, but it is not yet a majority. Dependent people are very easy to control. There is a fierce love of freedom that still resides in much of the country. FAR to many for the government to just take over as they are seeking to do.

What is happening is not a "sound bite" or news clip. This is a dance that has been going on since the very early 1900's in this country. While each man is rather short lived the problems are not. Governments throughout history have sought to control the serfs. Some fight back, others give in. It ebbs and flows. It always has and always will. The battle against evil is never ending. Right now evil seems to have the upper hand. That will change.

Yes, there are many who would accept government control of their lives. There are some who would hope to join those who seek to control. There are, at least for now, many more who will resist.

So your saying all those bills entered at both state and federal level were just marketing ploys? I knew those libs were smart but to offer up bills that increase the sell of guns and ammo is simply brilliant!

That's not really what I am saying but it's possible that is happening also. It wouldn't be the first time the government colluded with industry. My point is if I were a gun shop owner or dealer and this debate was going on I would use it any way I could to sell more guns and ammo. It's no different than when people start buying security systems for their homes and cars or a Rottweiler because there has been an increase in break-ins in their neighborhood. Again, it's fear of loss. A person will buy something because they are scared before they will buy something simply because they want it.

Heres a list of over 100 manufactures/dealers with statements from them..This is the only thing I have read anywhere coming from them. It appears to me that they have cut into their own revenue/profits on their own. Some have cut some of their biggest contracts all on their own it appears. Now I dont know who published or owns this site but the statements appear to be accurate and reliable to me.
Any dealer I know directly has said they believe the rush to buy arms/ammo is actually hurting them as they cant keep/get certain items into stock and some customers are looking elsewhere.
The Police Loophole

But yes Obama has become know as one of the best salesman's for firearms in recent history. Altho the sales of firearms and ammo and anything related has been on the rise long before this recent issue has come up again.
(issue meaning control)

Take away everything the firearms industry brings in will have a huge impact.

First off, except for a few examples of mom and pop shops using that ploy that type of advertising is not taking place.

You don't understand the feelings of many People. They are not as much "afraid" of not having guns as they are "afraid" of losing their freedom. THAT is the primary reason they are arming. A LARGE percentage of those new firearms owners are arming because they have FINALLY realized that the "authorities" cannot protect them, their families or property from a growing criminal population They are realizing that only they are able to do that and that it is their responsibility to do so. That is why bookings for firearms instruction are at all time highs.

It's not advertising it's more of social phenomena. Word of mouth is the strongest advertising there is anyhow. You are selling it right now.

This is my point exactly! It is fear of loss! Get it? Fear of loss. Fear of losing their lives as they know them. Fear of the boogie man or whatever. It's all the same.

I am selling nothing, but the idea that Mankind is meant to be free and independent. How the individual chooses to insure that happens is a matter of choice. Unlike the government, I would not use force to MAKE them arm. Do I believe that most should be armed? Yes.

The fear of loss of freedom is real. It is NOT the same as the fear of losing an object. There was not a massive push back against the CAFE standards that may make it difficult to own a pick up truck like there has been when part of the Bill of Rights is under direct threat.

Just wait until the "masses" find out that Obama Care gives the government access to their medical records, in direct contradiction of the Fourth Amendment. Many yet don't understand the freedoms that will be lost with that bill. The loss of those freedoms is the purpose of Obama Care. It is solely about control and making the People dependent.

The Marxist made his move too soon. We do not yet have enough of the population dependent on the government to fall for their lies.
