Not really a shocker, except that you'd think they'd wait until he was actually inaugurated. This one took mere hours...

MOSCOW - President Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday that Russia will deploy missiles in territory near NATO member Poland in response to U.S. missile defense plans.

He did not say whether the short-range Iskander missiles would be fitted with nuclear warheads.


In his first state of the nation speech, Medvedev also blamed the U.S. for the war in Georgia and the global financial crisis. He said he hoped Barack Obama would act to improve relations with Russia but he did not offer congratulations to the president-elect.

Speaking just hours after Barack Obama was declared the victor in the U.S. presidential election, Medvedev said he hoped the incoming administration will take steps to improve badly damaged U.S. ties with Russia. He suggested it is up to the U.S. — not the Kremlin — to seek to improve relations.

You keep saying that like it's true. Like if they don't agree with you then they have to be stupid. Name me one president since WWII who hasn't been tested very early on in his presidency.

The Regan Republicans (and I consider myself one of them, for the most part), has failed consistently over the last 8 years. Not only that, but when they had the opportunity of a Republican White House and a Republican Congress, and had the chance to truly do something, they dropped the ball and accomplished nothing. Ticked me off, I can tell ya that.

You know what they say about doing the same thing over and over and over, and expecting a different result. Putting McCain in there would be trying the same thing again. And that's the truth.

I'm very dissatisfied with everyone since Reagan and a little dissatisfied with him. I keep saying it because it's true. We have a nation of people who are stupid. It has nothing to do with agreeing less than 100% with me. It has to do with them being stupid. There's certainly a difference in releasing hostages within hours of an inauguration and deploying missiles within hours of an election victory though.

Well, Iran released the hostages because they were afraid to test Regan.
But his "mettle" was tested early on enough with the assassination attempt, the air traffic controller strike, the Beirut barracks truck bombing, then the Communist coup in Grenada.

Both Bushes were tested pretty quickly, and just a month into his presidency Clinton had the WTC bombing. Then a month later Janet Reno tested him with the Branch Davidian Pot Luck Dinner and Weenie Roast at Waco (What a Cook Out).

Now it looks like the Russians are gonna see if they can make Obama blink. The world knows that Americans don't have the stomach for war, since we keep demonstrating that over and over again. So Medvedev is gonna see how far he can push Obama. It'll be interesting to see if ol' George can diffuse the situation between now and January 20. I kinda doubt it, since Medvedev has made it very clear that he doesn't like Bush at all. Not even a little bit.
