I'm watching a police video show on cable. It seems to me we could greatly increase the public safety by enacting a law that running from the police is a capital crime as well as giving police the authority to do anything to stop a fleeing suspect. This would be predicated on in car video to prove the criminal is fleeing. It would have been quite easy to catch and knock down the ones who bailed out of the stolen car after miles of high speed chase and were on foot if the officers were allowed to run them down with the car.

I'm also quite annoyed by the illegal aliens protesting who were quoted as saying they weren't allowed to be the honest people they are. Excuse me? Illegal criminals here when they have no right to be are honest? We should announce to the world we are locking the border and then set up a system similar to what the East Germans used for keeping people in, just in reverse to keep them out. Anyone found here illegally should have DNA and retina scan ID's and be sent home with a warning if they are found here illegally again it is a capital offense. We should do the same with every illegal alien currently incarcerated here. We should immediately make any criminal felony committed by an illegal alien a capital offense. We actually should start correctly labeling every one of them as criminal aliens the moment they cross the border illegally. We should correct the liberals every time they want to use the appeasing term undocumented workers. They are criminals. They don't want to lose part of their voting base though. That's why they've eliminated picture ID to vote, made motor voter and all the other things that make it easier to illegally vote.

I am all for protecting the public by stopping the person by any means possible, including killing them. There is absolutly no reason to run and there is also no reason that the cops should not stop them with all their avalible tools.

As for undocumented worker, eh that term is now migrant worker or precitizen (I kid you not that this was used the other day on CBS). I think that we start with closing the borders to the point that most every other country has been doing, tracking them down and deporting them without hearings, even though I would like to see our military down there in force, engaging the mexican drug smugglers and killing some of these people. Th boondogal of the congress and the automated wall is something that we need as citizens to really look at and maybe just pulling our troops out of places like the EU and other parts of the world where we are not really needed or wanted and put them stateside would be a purdent thing. I am amazed that people feel that we should not do anything to stop these people but got to throw this in, there are more innocent people killed by invaders in one year than all the troops in Iraq.

I agree Leo, shoot to kill before the fleeing vehicle kills innocent people. Drunk Drivers loose the priviledge to drive for how long if cought, does fleeing a cop get you the same penelaty? I personally think it should be a 10 year susupension plus 4 year min in jail and a second time you should be charged with Attempted Muder just because the threat it poses....

Tall you mentioned that GM and Ford raped generations of auto workers. Do you think the UAW has raped the manufacturers,plenty of blame on both sides here based on GREED. I don't think I will never forget the guy on a f/lift at the Buick plant in Flint. He happened to be sound asleep and when I made noise to wake him up he was real poed and said I had to wait until he was on overtime. This attitude of the UAW members plus the manufacturers attitude against the workers have all contributed to the downfall of the US Automobile industry. But the competition did result in a much better product but it may be too late. I own a 2005 Chevy Mailbu and it is an excellent well made automobile. I also own a 1997 Ford Escort which is the best car I have ever owned. Hope I don't regret this post.

It takes guts to stand up and cast compliments at a Ford Escort. You are to be admired not rediculed. Kidding aside, I was in the car business for 20 years (hope I don't regret THIS post) and those little Escorts really are reliable when taken care of. There were a few gems in the 80's as well. I have sold so many 80 to 87 Regals, Cutlass's and Delta 88s I couldn't begin to count them.

I also made my living selling muscle cars and 50's, 60's and 70's special interest cars. You should have held on to that 64 Cal. My drivers throughout the nineties were always Caddy convertibles. I had 3 over the ten or twelve year period a 67, 68 and 70 DeVille. Go older than 65 at the time and the price doubled on the rag tops. Great cars. I want another. Maybe the dems will turn it all around and I will be in the chips again. Or maybe its cause I got 2 ex wives that I'm always broke... I wonder...

Talcal, where can these generations of autoworkers that were raped be found? I've lived in Michigan all my life and have yet to see them. I've seen lots of autoworkers that made an excellent living and didn't have to do much more than show up. Well, there were a lot of rules in place that gave them some options on the showing up.

Let me say this for now, Granholm is a political wh*re.

I knew her when she worked for McNamara (talk about a corrupt person, the bush administation can learn a lot from him) and she was the arm twister for him on the legal end of things. I knew that she would be a disaterous governor and for some reason when she got into office, she blamed the problems on the republican governor AND STILL BLAMING THE GOVERNOR FOR ALL OF TODAY'S PROBLEMS.

Since then we have had more people move out of the state, we are the poster child for the worst state in the union, we have lost more revenue because of her thoughtless policies and job creation in negative numbers.

We have states like North Carolina and Wyoming recruiting at job fairs in the state and a lot of people are going.

BUT

She has created 400 Google jobs in Ann Arbor - a city that saw Pfizer cut over 1500 jobs in development and Kalamazoo see Pharmaceia almost shutdown completely (losing more than 15 thousand people) in 2003. Now Pfizer will be closing it's PGR&D Ann Arbor site completly, oh maybe around 2500 or maybe 3000 - don't remember who was left. Needless to say, Google employes 175 students from U of M and hired a lot of U of M alumni for the $38 million they got in tax breaks - BIG DEAL!

She dropped the ball with Toyota and Honda even though Toyota put an R&D center in Michigan, they did this to capture the fleeing engineers from Ford and GM who they can retrain to think right. She failed to meet with both Honda and Toyota while she was in Japan trying to sell michigan, instead she sent her 'team' which (accroding to several sources) insulted the CEO of both companies.

She has decided to put more money into education but failed to insist on any accountablity of what the money is being used for(you critisize Bush but it is the same thing in michigan). she cut/shifted funding for retraining of the common people. Since the 'layoffs' of auto 'workers', she has come up with assistance programs for them and the idiots who are being layoff at Pfizer forgetting how many others are struggling and without resources. The auto 'workers' and Pfizer employees are getting enough that our tax money should not go to them.

Because Ford is in trouble, she has suggested more government intervention and has been spending money to help them. She also has been trying to keep others from leaving but will not lower taxes.

Speaking about education, she did this stupid thing with laptops where a lot of the laptops just disappeared. There was no real competitive bidding allowed (only a few of her freinds were allowed) and she insisted that every child has a laptop - which makes me wonder what happened to my Niece's laptop that she never got. She also has provided a lot of money for a lot of new school buildings.

She is increasing taxes, refuses to get rid of the small business tax and has stopped a lot of business reforms to take place in the state house. Her insistance of increasing taxes has turned away a bunch of businesses that would want to locate in michigan but fail to grease the right palms to get any tax breaks. Instead Ohio and Indiana is growing, we are shrinking.

Oh yea, property taxes have been changed to reflect a more equatible (for her) payment cycle. She will end up screwing us more with a forward payment tax system - most people won't see this because their mortgage takes care of this. My vacant property has gone from $250 a year in taxes (when she was elected the first time) to $1057 a year (this years tax bill - not bad for a peice of property valued since she was elected at $18K).

The people of the state are just plain D U M B to reelect her.

Because I can point out many Governors who are trying to accomplish almost the exact same things under a Republican banner,Arnold for instantance.He is thinking progessive,middle of the road programs that benefit,for the most part,business(workmans comp)yet does not put a burden on workers(universal health).These are progressive ideas,and not popular with everyone,but he is putting it out there.The Govenor of Michigan has to deal with the problems of politics(past),unions and a poor,underfunded educational system.The people have been screwed by all three of these offerings.

This wasn't just being told about them but seeing the checks myself.
