Thanks MG, does it also get rid of the crap you install yourself over time, that you wish you hadn't?
If I install this and it ends up installing MORE crap instead of getting rid of crap... I'm coming after you!
(Big threat here!)

PS Hey look! This was my 1000th post! Man I talk alot!

HAHA!! Congrats on your 1000th post!! Don't worry, my wife thinks I talk a lot too.

Anyways, from my experience, it looks for all that different crap plus more. Its basically like a uninstaller, but modified a little different to find things a little better, such as on adds on from shareware, trial and etc. software.

Yeah, MAC based computer operating systems are better in many ways. The only thing about MACs are they cost so much more. And this is why Window based systems sell more. If MAC did lower their prices, MAC would rule the world. But, they have always charged more and probably will not go down in price. But again, you do get what you pay for. :D

Well seeing that Mac uses the same Intel technology (got away from Motorola technology), install Mac OS on your PC.

Ha, your wife must be right! You've only been here 2 mos and you're already at a third of a thousand posts!!

 Ya, I like sharing my ideals and opinions. And so many of you bring it out of me. :p

Ya, I'm going to. It breaks the policies of Apple, but I will least try it out and see if I can install it on this computer. Which should be pretty simple, since I have already checked my hardware for compatibility and everything is a go. :D

Someone I was talking to the other day who has a Mac that I was coveting, told me the price and I was shocked at how much they have actually come down.. They're in the affordable range now.. and that's for a good one too! :)

Well, considering how much IBM compatible computers have come down, its really not a shock. Apple has always kept a buffer in between the IBM compatible computers and the Macs. Apple will stay ahead of windows, for the fact it is based of the Unix operating system, which is more stable, harder for people to make viruses for them.

(The following question is from a Windows user that doesn't know a lot about computers. Please respond to his question as gently as possible.)

As the price of Macs come down and they become more common, won't they end up with a lot of the same problems Windows? Viruses and that sort of thing? It's my understanding that the people that create viruses stick with PCs because there are so many of them.

As the price of Macs come down and they become more common, won't they end up with a lot of the same problems Windows? Viruses and that sort of thing? It's my understanding that the people that create viruses stick with PCs because there are so many of them.

The Mac operating system is built on the UNIX Kernel, which is one of the oldest and most secure operating systems available. Most tools and scripts for creating viruses are for Windows, and most virus authors are more familiar with Windows and the UBM platform than they are UNIX. And, there are more Windows users, so they are more appealing target, since most viruses depend on large numbers of infections to really accomplish anything.

Because of that, most Mac users don't run antivirus software. Most Mac users are, however, in denial. There's already a nasty Mac trojan in the wild that's hidden inside pirated versions of iWork 09 that people download via Torrents and get infected with. I won't go into why it's stupid to download iWork via P2P networking since you can download a free 30 day trial from Apple, but it illustrates how things are begining to happen on the Mac.

Malicious code hidden in Web pages are begining to target Macs, as well. A couple of years ago, after Apple announced that OS X was bullet-proof (even if it was, why invite bazillions to prove you wrong?) a computer researcher released three harmless worms into the wild to prove to Apple the weaknesses that OS X had. Apple immediately asked him not to release the source code until they had the patches in place. :)

But OS X is based on the FreeBSD UNIX platform that was written from the ground up to make networking secure, and it's been battle tested by a lot of computer geeks. It's proven to be far more secure, out of the box, than any Windows machine. It's not invulnerable, but it's not all that inviting of a target. Still, now that it's runnning on the Intel chips instead of the PowerPC chips from IBM and Motorola, more and more hackers will be able to exploit any weaknesses it has.

But for the most part, Mac users really don't have to worry very much about viruses. At the same time, they shouldn't become overconfident, either.

Well, since your lovely wife has to put up with SO much yapping from you, and since they've come down a lot, and since they really ARE far superior for the stuff she is interested in doing.. I think you should buy her a beautiful white Mac laptop to keep her happy on the road :)

(Inkasnana, that'll be fifty bucks, we all gotta make a buck SOMEhow!)

Does the UNIX Kernel repeatedly tell the other operating systems how lazy they are and how their "don't wannas" get in the way? (rim shot) I crack myself up...

I like my son's Apple, nice machine. He does concede that the freedom from viruses won't last forever. Thanks Turtle.

LOL Thanks pjjjjj, I'll keep whispering that in his ear while he's sleeping. My birthday is in a few months. ;)

(And as soon as I can siphon fifty bucks out of his wallet, I'll let you know! lol)

LOL she is a bigger tight wad than I am. We went to Wal-mart this evening. She was talking about needing another 2GB SD card for her camera. We went looked at them and they were $11.88. Asked her if she wanted it and she said she would wait later to get it. At the same time, I was buying a 8GB usb flash drive, hence that is why I was wanting to get her something. She is always wanting, but to tight to let go of the money. LOL

greg, i am not certain you can install a mac os on a pc. mac made the quad last decade and you could put windows on it but the interface was sluggish. i will check with my apple geek son tomorrow. btw, you can buy a refurbished mac for a pc price. still don't think it can equal the 350 i paid for this toshiba.

Sorry guys/gals already did the mac on pc this afternoon, it wasn't hard at all. I had one glitch with it and that was solved by something I didn't get to do but done for me by the OS - mac is a forgiving OS. I am running some heavy programs on the old box right now, amazing the performance is so good.

As for the licensing part, who cares! (Hint I bought the OS)

Apple has been so proprietary and forget that their market share in the real world is not that great because they were reluctant in allowing developers to develop like Microsoft did - the real difference between the two.
