Well they are butt ugly. Got a chance to look one over last week. As I went from the cab to the cargo area, forgot about the drop down deck, and I was very happy that it was a long one. As I was at the rear doors when I stopped stumbling.

Didn't like the under built cargo box. Looked like they saved $$ by going for less. No room to work in the engine compartment. Kinda forcing you to get repairs at the dealership.

I did like the two USB ports. One for charging and one for radio in. Other than being a new van, that is about all I liked. Need to drive one.

I too took a close look at 6 on display at a small dealer in Stoclton, Il....maybe ugly....but 158 cargo space and 56 inches between wheel wells...69 inch door height and an easy 3000 available for freight. .....works for me. .....lol

The one thing I really like about the sprinter is the 72" rear door opening...allows for double stacking....weight depending, can get 6 auto bins the 35 x 45 x 48 type....

Yes. .I understand that. .but with my now 76 door height ..I ve only had 3 loads in 9 months that required over 68 inches tall so I m fine with the Promaster rear door height. ...also with 21 inch floor loading height and wider wheel base the center of gravity is lower. ..meaning more stability....and bluetooth plus navigation radio with steering wheel controls is driver friendly...

I still do not understand the hang up on these so called repairs... We all have repairs to do, my repairs are not that much. So, yes fuel mileage will off set the repairs to some degree.
I do a lot of repairs myself, parts I get are OEM approved and way cheaper than dealership.
Today, I replaced two right rear door hinges. Cost for hinges- $0.00, dealership about $135.00 each. My wiper arms were a little high, but, I could've gotten those for about $10.00 ea, If I was close to my supplier. Had to see in those Fla rain storms.

But, that's ok. There will always be the Ford vs Chevy, Rep vs Dem's, Sprinter vs Want-a-be's....

Setting standards? Are they referring to the bottom of the ladder, or shooting for 'average'?

I am so WHOLLY unimpressed with anything Mercedes or Daimler after my diesel tech days.

You have one of the good ones.I guess I should be more technical and say 2007 and newer models..we just had a driver spend 6300 bucks on a repair for a cat and dpf filter..really? How can anyone justify that? And the sad part is that mechanic told him those dpf filters have a life expectancy of around 250 thousand miles. At 3 grand each. Ouch...

Well actually it was less than that, he had more done than that and there are aftermarket items that will lower the cost. That van had way to many idle hours on it, not from him and still was over the supposed mile mark they told him.

I've sat in a lot of different vans and trucks. They all look a lot alike from the driver's seat. Some are ugly though when you look at the bottom line on the spreadsheet.

Scott, my experience is exactly as yours. 590k at the moment and maintenance only cost me less than 2 pennies a mile.
Rust will do it in soon though.
