The Iraq war is over they say.

Phase two has ended, not the war. It will get very bloody there soon. We will either be back there within two years or we are going to allow the carnage to occur.

John Glaser writes:

"I talked to Scott Horton yesterday about whether or not the Iraq war is really over and whether or not America endowed every Iraqi with a freedom and independence (as opposed to a creeping dictatorship). But, as Iraqis burned the American flag yesterday during the last troops’ withdrawal, here’s a nice illustration of why they might not be so thankful:

The documents — many marked secret — form part of the military’s internal investigation, and confirm much of what happened at Haditha, a Euphrates River town where Marines killed 24 Iraqis, including a 76-year-old man in a wheelchair, women and children, some just toddlers.

…Iraqi civilians were being killed all the time. Maj. Gen. Steve Johnson, the commander of American forces in Anbar, in his own testimony, described it as “a cost of doing business.”

The Haditha massacre is reminiscent as well of the brutal slaughter of 10 Iraqi men, women and children in 2006, as revealed by WikiLeaks diplomatic cables."

One Reason Why Iraqi's Aren't So Thankful

Only an complete absolute 'tard could not understand why these people might hate us ..... yeah, it's our freedom .... really ....

Well as I understand some of the need to be there, I don't agree with the last half of the war and how it was fought. Our problem in cooping with the social issues in the country and damaged done to the people outweigh the issues of fulfilling the UN mandate, having brought "democracy" to the country and trying to force some instability in Iran.

I'm glad it didn't end like Saigon but on the other hand to have an official ceremony seems to be a bit much when we as a country didn't get a thing out of it.
