The hold music

Or should I say advertisement.
I just left a comment on the comment line to do something about our advertisement we all have to listen to for hours a day, everytime your put on hold. There has to be, when we call on on the drivers line,a way we can just listen to music, without the crazy ads.Everyone of us know how great FDCC is,we all know about the fact we haul exotic cars in enclosed trailers, and we all know the services Fed Ex offers.
This crap we have to listen to everytime on hold is getting out of hand.I think everyone of us needs to address this situation.
As far as I'm concerned, this is very unprofessional. This ad we listen to, if you need to get into dispatch for a good reason, and on hold long enough, will put the most calm person in a fit of rage.Might even cause a person to hit the panic button, just to get someone to call you back, sort of like how baby's break things to get attention.
If you think I'm right, then call into the suggestion line, and leave a comment. The powers do listen

I am really starting to miss the 'Schroeder' piano music too.

One thing for sure, when you press 1 for dispatch and then press 1 for departure it would be nice to get someone right away. It feels really silly when a customer loads your truck with hot freight (it is expediting right?) only to see you sitting on their property for 15 minutes while you wait on hold.

You got that right. Some of the wait times to do departure calls are getting to be just a bit silly. Long enough that it can impact HOS problems.

In the days before cell phones. I once sat on hold for about 20 min in the shippers office. I could see the steam coming out. of his ears. When I finally finished he said a few words to me about the time delay. I learned later he called FECC and gave them holy bell. This was a very large account at the time.

Things got better REAL FAST.

One of these days I have hope we will move into the vision of using the QC to send our departure information in on. If we could do this on all "normal" departs the phone system use would be cut down in 1/2 I believe.

I wonder though on advertising on our the phone system if this is the same recording that a customer hears while waiting for customer service to pickup the phone?

The ability to use the QC for departures would really free up every bodies time. Far smarter way to do it.

I have been using the QC for depatures for 3 years now...If I am on hold too long, I hit [create Message] 00, then type in my departure using the format in the "Contractors Helper Guide." This has also been helpful in "No Cell" areas. I have gotten a message back only one time when I failed to use the format and forgotten something. I am not sure if FDCC really wants everyone doing this, but it has worked fine in the past for us.

I wish I could do that bubblehead but all my loads are cross border. If I do that or drive off the customers lot before doing a departure call ppwrk check w/ a person I get (and have gotten) in hot water.

I hope the new QC automates this, or even automates just the US to US shipments, thus freeing up the dispatchers for us cross border goons.

I still miss the piano music though!!

I wouldn't call the hold advertisement unprofessional but it does get tedious. As I've said before, departure calls by phone are antiquated and come closer to qualifying as unprofessional than contractors hearing the promo blurb while on hold. There absolutely needs to be a QC macro for departures immediately if not sooner.
