Leo;

If 4 or 5 Mexican based carriers put an end to trucking as we know it in America, that does not say too much for our industry!

Exactly John they have the same expenses as an American company

Ummm....no they don't. A carrier from Mexico pays a cheaper wage, onboard communications are paid by the US taxpayer and the ones with multiple fuel tanks pay a fraction of what we do for fuel as they fuel in Mexico before US entry. I could add a few more in the regulatory side of things as well.

As far as a threat to the industry, not seeing it per say from the Mexican carriers as there are too few at this point. A bigger threat is granting amnesty to 11 million already here. We know that is basically around the corner. We are granting drivers licenses now so a government backed and paid for CDL probably will become a reality.

I say deport everyone that is here illegally. The government did it before, they can do it again.

They still have to comply with state regulations and thankfully the scale houses are still state run

That doesn't translate into them running at the same costs.They do have to comply but have some exemptions that aren't afforded to a US carrier.

Considering the price to live Mexico is much less they can run for much less. Then more American carriers can move part of operations over there and hire Mexicans who can now come here and run 3-4 weeks at lower rate. Swift and celadon already do this so it could become more common.
