Looks like a strong argument for term limits to me - 'pork' projects like this don't get through without cronies, ya know?
As bad as the airport is, there are so many more wasteful monuments to some politician's monumental ego that we never hear about, it just makes me sick! What's being done with taxpayer money should be front and center in the newspapers. Instead they're all about television, celebrities, sports, and the gruesome tragedy du jour - a mockery of 'news' and/or information. Very disheartening.

Cheri, I have passed on the answer to this problem many times in here. YOU/WE hold the power!! It is our DUTY to control the government. VOTE THE SCUM OUT!! EVERYONE EVERY TIME, reguardless of party. WE, the People, were NEVER meant to be controlled by our government. WE, the People, are suspossed to control them. We have given up our power and what we have now is the result of that. It is OUR fault.

You're 'preaching to the choir" here, Joe. And I've suggested voting every single incumbent out of office for years, as a statement of voter dissatisfaction, but people seem to care more about television programs than what's happening in DC, sigh.
It's kind of a 'chicken/egg' question: do newspapers & television focus on fluff because that's what the people want, or do they do it to avoid antagonizing those politicians and sponsors who could give them a hard time, while persuading folks that celebrities and sports are 'news'?

I think it is more like they have thier head "Where the sun never shines" because they just don't care. Far too many find it easier to be lead by a ring in the nose rather than take responsibilty for themselfs. The medical term for this is
