I wanted to take a minute to publicly thank Phil Madsen for his contribution to Expedite NOW Magazine. Phil served as our Editor for the past few years and did an OUTSTANDING job in his articles and editorials.

Many of the finest trucking writers and editors in the industry made note of his skill with the pen.

Phil represented Expedite NOW magazine at trade shows, owner operator events, and many times on XM Sirius Radio. During his time - Expedite NOW magazine grew to a top distribution level of 45,000 copies!!! Also, his long running series - Business Planning For Expediters is the most read and requested article in our 10 year history.

We will certainly miss his articles and insight at Expedite NOW magazine. We wish him and Diane continued success in the future.

I must have missed something. Where is Phil going? Since he does a great job why is he leaving?

I really wouldn't have wanted to come in to follow Jeff and now wouldn't want to come in to follow Phil either. Hopefully the next will be as capable as the last two. Definitely an excellent job over the last many years and thanks due to the capable hands who did it.

this explains it.

from i miss jeff jensen thread

Linda,

The editor's job is yours if you want it and Lawrence is willing to give it to you. My agreed-upon time in the job ends tomorrow.

I miss Jeff Jensen too. He was a great editor and great friend to the expediting industry. When I took his place, it was not because I was seeking the job. It was because Jeff's health had deteriorated to the point of no longer being able to work. Lawrence asked me to fill in for a time and I agreed. I subsequently agreed to serve through 2009.

Jeff did a far better job than I could ever hope to do because he had the luxury of time and experience. Jeff worked out of an office and had done so for years. He invested untold hours in the job by talking endlessly with expediters and others involved in the industry. I have never before been an editor and did what Expedite NOW work I could while also working full time on the road as an expediter.

Having fulfilled my promise to Lawrence, the time has come for me to move on to other interests. Going into 2010, Diane and I will continue to work full-time as expediters as I continue to develop my trading skills.

Linda Caffee will do a great job. As someone I have known for the last 4 years and working with her and Bob at FedEx Custom Critical, she has my vote.

Okay, that explains a lot, I never opened the Jeff Jensen thread because that was before my time on EO:)
I don't necessarily open and read all threads, only the ones that interest me. Thanks Jack
