TEDDY ROOSEVELT SAW THIS COMING - Yahoo! News

Roosevelt sussed out the perils of unregulated capitalism early on. "The great corporations which we have grown to speak of rather loosely as trusts are the creatures of the State, and the State not only has the right to control them wherever need of such control is shown but it is in duty bound to control them," he said in 1901.

No president since Nixon has followed TR's advice. The result of unbridled corporate corruption is disparity of wealth worse than much of the Third World, and 20 percent unemployment.

Be careful there OVM, TR was the guy who started all of this and he is the reason we have social security, welfare and a number of other entitlements. It was his ideas that we have to deal with today, it was his crusade that he was on to right the wrongs through enlarging government control of our world that he used to punish the rich. It was Taft, his VP who put a stop to a lot of the stuff and if Taft would have won his second term, we would not have had the Wilsonian style of government we have today.

Well I forgot to add something else based on the above quote

The problem isn't with unbridled corporate corruption but rather government's involvement into the corporate world where their regulations forced the corruption to be created. If we stepped back to 1900 and used those laws to actually allow growth and prosperity to happen, we would not have many of the issues that we have today.

In addition, it wasn't Nixon and onward but Truman forward that ignored the doctrine of Wilson and FDR by allowing the foundation to be built for our modern businesses. Today, the FTC and even the president/congress are willing to dump money into business that are 'too large to fail' which in itself is a horrible thing to do.

Agreed....

I've always believed that big business will adjust on its own...a lot thought the Delphi collapse would be bad....now there is ACI to replace it....and so forth...had GM USA went under there would be something arise out of the ashes to replace it....

Well the GM thing is simple, they would have survived just the same. Right now as I type, there is negotiations underway over the elimination of jobs so GM can shut plants down. They will move those plants off shore, most likely China.
