Team pay

Just wondering. Placing a team in one of my trucks. You still pay the 60% for both drivers to split right? I figured it to be the same because teams can earn much more revenue than a solo could do. Thanks for any info.

There is no rule covering this issue; however, the common practice is as you state, 60/40 split. The lead driver will also usually get 5-10 percent more than the co-driver. The lead will be responsib;e for ensuring, truck maintenance, fuel payments, and al paperwork are in order. Some folks provide a bonus to the drivers if they achieve certain goals, like time available in a given time period or meeting a minimum monetary level each month/quarter.

However you choose to do it, having your program reduced to a written document is a most important matter.

Thanks terryandrene, I'm trying to put together something in writing now. If anybody has any help or suggestions, I'm open to all. I'm trying to make it as good as possible for the drivers.

I met one team that received 45% of the gross and the owner paid for all road expenses, fuel tolls etc. The lead driver received 25% and the co driver 20%. In addition the owner bought them one reasonable meal a day plus 2 reasonable motel rooms every week. They were quite satisfied with this arrangement and the fleet owner was also content.
