The First Government Bailout!!

Interesting history lesson for me....

Americans are enjoying a brief tax holiday this year–filings are not due until April 17–and credit for the postponement goes to an unexpected hero: none other than Abraham Lincoln. (Of course, Lincoln was also responsible for introducing federal income taxes in the first place, but that is another story.)

The explanation for the reprieve has nothing to do with the burdens of taxation, and everything to do with the blessings of liberty. A hundred and fifty years ago, Lincoln became the first American president to sign a law–any law–restricting slavery. On April 16, 1862, he approved a measure freeing (technically buying–then the biggest government bailout in history) all slaves in Washington, D.C. The capital now marks the 16th as a holiday, with government offices shut down, the IRS included.

Lincoln and. Freedom don't belong in the same sentence. Lincoln started this nation's downfall, and it had nothing to do with chattel slavery.

You know the problem with bad cops? They make the other 5% look bad.

Lincoln was as bad for the Constitution then as Obama is now. Neither had any use for it and both act accordingly.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....you have a well written great sounding piece of paper that in reality gives you nothing but words....was written by the rich, powerful and elite back then.....A central government maintains control thru a 2 party system that is corrupt as the election system that is designed to keep the power, in power....

Looks like Jefferson was giving you a message, a hint just how bad it was.....when he said that once in a while a rebellion would be needed...

The common folk back then needed to hear the words, like freedom and liberty and those in power gave them just that....words....

No, the common folk have given up the power that was rightfully theirs. They gave it up for freebies. They have become "gimmie goobers".

We will regain our rights when we decide that enough is enough and TAKE them back. It will happen. The only thing remaining to be seen is whether it will be at the ballot box or through other ways. The longer this goes on the less likely that the ballot will work.

Kinda like a marriage license, ya know....if any of the parties involved have no intention of honouring it.....it is just a piece of paper...of no value...

Well, the 'divorce' that is coming to this Nation is going to be far nastier than most other divorces. The last 'civil war', if you believe that is what it was, took the live of more that 620,000. This one will take far more.
