Sooooo ... I guess there is a ballgame here in Nashville tomorrow?

Was chatting with the security guard .. seems all these numbers on the parking lot are assigned to TICKET HOLDERS for the stadium next door.

He told me I would probably have to move early in the morning as the holder of my "assigned" parking spot may show up for a tailgate party!

I see some have the big "E" on them, I asked him if I was safe there, he had no clue.

Party, party, party!

Take a walk to the coyote Ugly Bar, they open 24/7.
there's also some kind of an outdoor shower art thing along the way, if you do not have one on you card.

BTW, Expediters are the only ones worldwide to use the term
'half a shower' :)

We were told they the e painted at the ta's meant expedited, since the ga is trying to be so expedited friendly.

We were told that as well, Dynamite, until we got to the TA in Denver (East?). We were shooed out of the front lot by their rent-a-cop, who explained that the E meant "employee". There are a boatload of "E" slots in that front lot, which would make that TA the most heavily-staffed truckstop on the face of the planet.

Seriously, I think there are somewhere near 80 slots with "E" on them.

If I remember correctly there is a press release somewhere that explains the "E" ... I hope to find it.

I spoke to a really nice lady this morning at the TA that is in charge of that parking. I have no real problem with them renting out the parking lot, it's real money maker for the home games of the Titan's.

She also stated the "E" was for employee parking, and said if it meant expediters, she also did not get the memo.

I'm firing off an email to TA to have them clarify this, and infrom them, (if I am correct), they need to pass that along to the various facilities.

Found this:

Expediter Parking

Parking privileges. TA locations offer layover parking to expedite drivers on a first come first serve basis. Expedite Driver′s should present their UltraONE Expediter Card to the store or fuel general manager and advise as to the length of the driver′s layover. The store or fuel general manager will identify the best parking area for the driver′s cargo van or sprinter truck on the location.

The "E" painting program started immediately after the announcement of the UltraOne Expedite card. Also, if you notice the locations which have signs designating "Employee Parking", the spaces do not have the "E" on them. Most people, security guards and uninformed employees included, will see the "E" and logically assume it's for employees, despite those spots being oftentimes the least desirable spots for employees to park. The "E" is in fact to specifically denote Expediter Parking. Any confusion, talk to the manager, show your UltraOne Expediter card, and ask where the preferred expediter parking is.

I sent this inquiry to TA .. we'll see what the response is:

At the Nashville TA, Saturday night, I was informed I would have to vacate the parking lot Sunday morning, (with my Sprinter van), as the entire lot is reserved for the Titan's foot ball game. Ok, if you can make an extra buck, fine with me.

Now the confusuon ...

In that parking lot are several parking spaces marked with the big "E", for what many of us assume are for "Expediter", Amanda, (I think her name was), stated that was desiginated employee parking.

Many of us in the expediter world are confused, I refer you to this link on expediter online.

http://www.expeditersonline.com/forum/general-expediter-forum/51397-ta-travelcenter-nashville.html

Could we have an actual interpertation of those big "E"'s .... and yes, the actual parking position of TA is published there also ....

I would prefer a written response, so I can share it with my community of expediters.

Thanks,

If in fact the "E" is for expediter's, that is a good thing. It would be nice if all the major players (pilot, J, Loves ) did the same.

I'm seeing more and more vans parked right out side of the front door. As they are to lazy to park away from the building, due the walk to the store!.
Lady's & Gentlemen, please do not park in front of the store, try to move out away from the building. Or do you not care about others, thinking only of your self??

We were at the Laredo TA about 2 weeks ago. There are "E"s all about the perimeter of the lot along with a few at the west end that seem to be best suited for straight trucks. However, along the north edge of the east side there are 13 spots marked "E" and there large signs that state that these 13 spots are for employees, not expediters. I complained to corporate (got ahold of a woman that obviously had absolutely no clue what I was talking about) which resulted in the manager of that store calling me. He stated that "those E's were for employee parking". But when I explained that every other TA we have been to seems that the "E" means expediter parking he said, " well the straight trucks were backing into those spots and knocking down the fence that divides the front lot from the tractor trailer lot, which I knew to be true. But he agreed that the message was mixed between the "employee only" signs and the "E"s on the pavement and he intended to remove the "E"s from those 13 spots as soon as possible to eliminate any confusion. However, it was clear that this manager (along with many others) had no clue what the "E" is really for, or they just make up stuff when they need to. I hope corporate comes up with a proper explanation and gets all the TA's in line!

Truckstop renting spaces out for a game and tailgating will ensue. Sure they will keep the noise down  Time to move on, tells you what they really think of there restaurant customers and expediters.

If anyone can get the "E is for expediters, not employees" in writing [email?] it would be great if they offered to share it [either scan & post, or email] because that's the only way to convince those mgrs & employees who don't know.

Yep when I see them sitting out front, I make a point to say something to them, if I am in one of my moods. Why would you park up there it's noisy and people are banging into your van because they are rude or do not care. Watched a TS sprinter move to 4 different spaces up against the front of the J in Carlisle. Playing musical parking spaces I guess

Not really, I was told there by an employee that TA had to agree to it in order to rebuild after the flood. City wanted to take the property.

I had a phone call just now from "Steve" who said he was Director of Operations for TA ... he promises to respond via email when he has time.

He stated the "E" is indeed employee parking. But expediters are welcome to use it.

Also, he said they were not required by Nashville to provide those parking spaces as a condition of rebuilding, they just wanted to make a buck! (I'm paraphrasing)

Then, to add to the confusion, I called the TA Laredo and spoke with the manager there. He said those "E" parking spaces are also for employees .... but .... those along the outside are where they prefer the straight trucks.

We chatted for a few minutes, he is considering in HIS lot, (not TA corporate), to perhaps add an "X" to the "E" ... "EX" to desiginate prefered expediter parking.

Nice guy, good idea!

Someone down there at the TA, go inside and thank him for the consideration!

No way...I park where the shade is in the summer. The only time I use the spots right up front by the building, though, are times when that's the first spot to get the shade. Then I'll park there for a short time while the shade moves into other areas. But I'm certainly not there for extended periods.

If you are going to park where you're "allowed," relying on the truckstop to designate a spot, it's likely to be a crappy spot, shoehorned in with 10 other vans, amid their noise and exhaust. Don't you just love it when you're trying to sleep and 3 or 4 other drivers are shooting the shiznit 6 feet from your van?

Being told where to park sucks. Careful what you ask for; you might get it.

They were doing that before the flood. I was ****ed, believe me. Dont know if they were actually renting them out or if they just turned a blind eye, but their lot has been used by game-goers for years.
