Great question! I ran a "C" reefer unit at Fedex Custom Critical and we were very pleased with our income! The need for a shower and toilet are great to have when you are baby sitting loads overnight, etc. Call Keith Bentz at 1-800-664-bunk, for a brochure if you would want to see some options. Reefer is the only way to go in a "C" unit. Check with recruiting for there recommendations. They will be very helpful. If you would like to talk to me, feel free to give me a ring at 386-427-4004. Good luck with your new ride!

As far as I know reefers are deisel powered. We are at Panther and run a D unit. It has a shower, toilet ect. It is a 125" bunk with a 18 foot box. Ours is from ICT. (Indiana Custom Trucks) Their web site is www.indianacustomtrucks.com
Bentz has some real nice units as well. Some of the ones at the Louisville truck show were real nice. Not sure on their prices. They need to get a website. ICT has some of their prices already posted.
Glen is the expert on Bentz sleepers.

We're DR (D-unit with reefer) drivers now, planning to go to a CR unit for the larger sleeper. Our load analysis says we'll give up few loads because of the smaller size truck. We will give up some income in that a D truck sometimes gets paid more money to move a C load than a C truck does. It's a price we're willing to pay for the additional creature comforts a larger sleeper can provide.

A-Team should have mentioned that he drives for FedEx. I would find the carrier that suits you prior to your truck purchase. Several carriers rates change when going from a D to a C. Sometimes as much as .10 cents a mile. With a team that may be a 10 to 15,000 dollar difference per year. Should mention also that fuel surcharge rates could be caculated differently as well. As mentioned, the amount of available loads will be roughly the same.
