Sorry I know this was a old post, but thought would add a little to it.I have a unicell 17ft b/c.
1. the company i put it on with first says great got all kinds of work [one of the better know companies]After buying it and putting it on,got loads but never more the b pay, know they charged more but said no more for me.I am now elsware, and getting paid the right amount, but I have to wait for the loads.
2. I love it!but I have to log all the time to be legal 80% of the time.I got a gm and have had gvw re worked for 13,900. the company I am with,is good at using me to fill the gap between b and c.The good thing is its less then 4 ton empty. Most of the shipper/recievers like it.Its easy to load and unload for all of us.
3. It only gets 12 mpg which is a big deal,I drove a company owned version, and got 14 to 15 so gm is trying to figure out why mine is so low.Ended up with a gas unit but with the price split it works out ok cost per mile.
4. The expitide companies don't like them.they have to treat them different so they don't want to waste there time.
5. Inportant to me is the comfort,I am 6ft6 and its so good to stand getting dressed lol, also it is the most stable drive i have ever driven.

Your pay problem is typical for the industry. I had a C unit that could handle D weight and never got the extra pay. Glad you found a company to utilize your unique equipment. Feeling good about what your doing and who your doing it with is critical to your attitude and success! Have a great Turkey Day. Drive safe and be profitable.

I have a 2004 Chevy 15' Unicell. At 65mph I get 11 1/2 mpg. At 70 mph I get 10 1/2 to 11 mpg. At 75 mph I get 9 1/2 to 10 mpg. If I go 60 mph (too slow for me) I'll get between 12 and 13 mpg.
What year is your 17' Unicell? Maybe the older version GM(1997 thru 2002) gets more.

Mine is a new 2004 chevy express, looking into changing rear gear after 100,000 mile warranty over.I think [am checking] that the older ones had a different gear/computer package for trans/engine
