Suckers are running in the rifle. If you haven't seen the "sucker Village" in Omer michigan its something of a spectical.

I'll stick with walleye, Get all we want on the Holloway resivoir and the Flint river.

You are right!! The "sucker village is really something! Everyone should as least see it once in thier life. I am not into the sucker thing, I too prefere walleye, but the sucker run on the Rifle is just SOOOO Michigan!!! Layoutshooter

35 years ago when we went to the U.P. smelt dipping,you could actually see what looked like the bottom of the small rivers, moving from so many suckers...

Suckers are very fine table fair IF you know what you are doing. It is a VERY big deal during the spring sucker run in Michigan. They are best in the very cold just after ice out water. I have had suckers that "old timers" had canned, very good. I just have no idea how to fix them and I prefere to fish with a rod and reel, not a dip net. Layoutshooter

Layout -
If you keep the suckers on ice until you scale them they really are a mild flavorful fish. Best cooked on foil on the grill with dill and lemon!
