Once again I get the stupid text message telling me I have text load offers for my phone.

Don't they understand that is getting on my nerves?

I have a feeling this is going to be a monthly occurrence. It always happens shortly after 03:00 eastern time, which leads me to believe it originates on the west coast after the stroke of midnight. This crazy cycle must stop, period.

It originates from QC and seems to be at 12:01 am pacific time on the last day of the month. I'm not positive it was the last day of the month previously but think it may have been. In any event, QC needs to figure it out and stop doing it.

If its such a problem for you guys, it is not required, you can have it stopped, it is by option.......but I bet if it was a load offer you all wouldn't be whinning about it now would you??

I believe the first message I got was to ask if I was interested in the text message program. So I think all Panther units get the monthly call.

I'm sure few of us would be whining if it was a load offer and we were available. But it is nothing more than an alarm clock going off that we didn't set.

Easyrider, did you opt out of the program? Personally I like the text message service, its the wake up call that irritates me.

What's all this talk about whining? They are discussing an INCONVENIENCE that Panther can't get thru their head. As hard as you guys say you're running with them, you'd want all the sleep you can get! And the qc going off at 3am isn't my idea of Panther rolling over and kissing me on the cheek. Some high up at Panther needs a wake up at 3 and maybe something will be done.

thawk, it is't the QC "going off", it is a sound a cell phone makes when it receives a text message.
Quallcomm sends a text message to the driver that there is a job offer that coincides with a QC message, or it sends the monthly update that Leo mentioned.
This is optional as er 2697 mentioned. You can call Debbie in safety and stop it orrrr if you like the text messaging but don't want the text bell to awaken you turn off the volumn on your phone. The QC will alert you if it is a load offer.......

Panther doesn't do this. It originates from QC.

Maybe if everyone called dispatch at the same time (3am) with a "what" response somebody might call QC to straighten it out..

Qualcomm is located in San Diego, so yes it probably originated from their server at midnight.

Here's my ignorant question of the day:

If it is realy QC's fault, how come only Panther people are having this issue? There are plenty others who use QC. I'm sure the text service is not a Panther exclusive. How come we don't here anyone else talking about. Any other carrier folks using the text service? Not bashing panther. Just asking for a check-in to see if anyone else is using the service.

You know you all need to commninicate to Panther every time it happens, like when it happens call dispatch and complain. This should get them to push for a fix if this is such a big deal. Remember they are paying for a service from QC and they have some leverage over this issue.

Surprising they don't use much of the services that QC has to offer.

I was told it is in option you can sign up for that comes from QC but goes through your cell phone. Thus, if you do not want it, cancel it or turn your text message alarm off on your phone. Once again, that is what safety and compliance told me. I do not have that problem.

I did not opt to have it turned off, I do recieve the 0300 text message just like everyone else does, I just see no see reason to complain about it, if you are sleeping and are so worried about it turn your phone off when you go to sleep. Change the ringer on the text message setting or just get used to it....seems pretty simple to me.
My point was about the fact that if it ws a true load offer, there wouldnt be the complaining, but since it was not thus the complaining

Turning the phone off when you go to sleep, or silencing it, defeats the purpose - if there were a load offer, and it didn't get through on the QC, (which is one reason for using the text msng), you'd miss it. Another reason is that you may not be sleeping within hearing distance of the QC.
I am still getting the o3oo text msg, too, 6 weeks after leaving Panther. I will not turn off or silence my cellphone at night, as I have a teenager who communicates mainly by text msg, and I need to be available to her, even at 0300. Especially at 0300, now that I think of it!
I'll add my request to others contacting Panther, via email or phone, to request that they get the practice stopped - I really don't appreciate the 'false alarms' at 0300 either.
