So I am sitting here checking my e-mail whilst getting my pedicure and a private message comes in from EO... So I'm like cool, let me check it in the bathroom (I have a laptop stand next to the bidet) fresh roll of Charmin (to dry) and I'm off....
Hoping it's a "wassup" or "how's it going", but NO, it is a concern from a fellow poster about ratings from other EO members.
I respond like why do you care??
AND it occurs to me, this is a human being, a very sweet person that just wants to be part of, and is part of,
The Expedite Game.
We didn't invent it nor do we own it..
Expedite is a job, short term career or a temporary niche in the transportation industry (I guess) but make no bones about it..
I have yet to meet a single person or team that I felt was better than I (or we) at what we do, albeit I have met many I have admired (and felt were better) for the person they were or things they have done.
In short, if you choose to grovel with the lowly truck driving types then judge yourself and others on that level.
If you aspire to reach higher, then by all means get your dead azz off the forums and go be what it is you tell all your acquaintances.
BUT don't put people down or judge them by a standard you personally can't live up to.
Lest I run you over with my bicycle:eek:

I've never really put to much into the whole rating thing. I did however send a person a pm who gave me a terrible rating. Mainly because I wanted find out what I did to offend or insult this person. Not because I was worried about the rating, but because I didn't want someone to have hard feelings towards me. Come to find out this person said they didn't realize they had done that, and it must have been a mistake. They said there were no hard feelings. That was good enough for me. I think before you give someone a bad rating you should send them a pm and try to discuss what made you feel the way you do. I bet if you do the problem can be resolved. Sometimes what one person types, and another person reads are 2 different things.

Mike or what it's worth I agree with you and I don't pay any attentions to the ratings. I am what I am and thats the way it is. My 3 sons think I am a good Father,my wife likes me most of the time, and my friends like me. Ratings are based on a perception of that person based on a few sentences.

That's what the doc at the VA anger management class calls a passive-agressive person. See most people think passive-agressive is someone who allows themselves to be a door mat. That's passive. Passive-agressive acts kinda like the passive person to your face, but then plots behind your back. He said there are four types of people. Passive,Agressive, Passive-Agresive, and Assertive. He said we should be the assertive person. See the assertive person doesn't take crap off of people. He speaks his mind. He just does it in a tactful way. I was passive-agressive before the class. Everyone around me liked it, but they didn't realize it. I went through the cl**** learned the techniques, and got my head on straight. Then I started speaking my mind, and everyone said anger management class wasn't working for me. Can you imagine the looks on their faces when I told them I was employing the techniques I learned in the class everytime I told them what I thought? They were floored. They thought I was learning to take their crap and say nothing not stand up for myself and try to reslve conflicts.

So what does one have to do to have a little green box that says, “on a distinguished path or an unknown quantity”?

It is kind of like that passive aggressive humiliation on the bathroom walls that kids in grammar school do to each other.

Maybe I am not the only one that notices this or is it he idle time that that exposes the hidden talents some have.

I think they just change when the number of your posts hits certain intervals. I don't think EO instituted it. Probably came with this new forum script.

That is what I first thought also, or as I was told. But then I did a quick scan through new members.

If you do the same, you will see that members that have under 20 posts have a distinguished path.

So as I have said, “WHAT UP”?

Hmmm....Could just be a glitch. I know one member said that one day their post count complete reset. Strange.....

Kind of begs the ultimate question... When did this site become a professional version of Myspace??? Ratings should be left for the ones that actually have something worthwhile to say to another... good or bad. Let's all remember the Golden Rule, children.

The ratings/reputation section did indeed come with the new software. If someone has their ratings turned on, you can rate the POSTER as a whole.

Reputation... the green square, is a rating system based on individual POSTS. You can give kudos to someone based on a good post they made,

If you choose to do so, you can leave a comment for them about what you liked about the post. The REPUTATION goes up depending on the reaction to your posts.

To sum again.. Ratings (If activated) rating of POSTER... (stars) 5 stars is highest..goes up and down. and is AVERAGE of all ratings received.
Reputation (green square).. overall rating of the posts... and is a continuous number.

It is meant as a litmus test. If someone is giving advice on an issue, and they have a higher reputation, it should mean they have given good advice in the past, and people have given them kudos. The higher the reputation, ideally, it should mean the more trusted that person is.

On the opposite side, Moderators and Admins can give infractions to your reputation if you violate the Code of Conduct. If your reputation falls low enough, you will get a temporary ban. When you are reinstated, if you still violate the Code of Conduct, you may then be banned.

Actually I think we all need to give ARK a atta boy. Last year he announced that he was going to start getting a college education. Since that time I have noticed his posts are more clear and consise, grammer is perfect etc. We all encouraged him to get this education and it seems to be paying off for him. So stay at it Joe.

I agree Rich. We've seen a big difference in Ark's posts, and the information he shares. Nice to see a young guy getting his plan on.

Right now I'm trying to keep my gpa up so I can hopefully get in law school.I spoke with a pre law advisor and found out that my math class that I made a B in will not be going on my transcript because it is a developmental course. That means I actually have a 4.0 gpa instead of a 3.75. Then when I graduate and pass the bar you guys can crack jokes on me all you want. I'll be laughing as my wife drives my seizure having self to the bank. j/k. Seriously I want to get into law for personal reasons that don't include increasing my bank account. Thanks for the encouragement.
