A strange thing happened the other night every time I passed A deer on the road it would chase after my truck. When I stopped at the truckstop I saw why. Those little deer whistles you put on your bumper to repel the deer were installed BACKWARDS thus atracting the deer instead.
Sorry im bored and couldn't resist.

Lol!

I was working for a company delivering auto parts at night in NW OK and there is one stretch of road between Woodward and Elk City that's just over populated with deer. Anyways the owner had just put those deer whistlers on the 16ft box truck I was driving and all was good until I hit that stretch of road. I creamed a Button Buck at 65 mph. Killed both the truck and the poor little creature. Not to mention scared the begebies outta my self.

Had to wait for someone to come get me and the rest of the freight and the tow truck to pickup the smashed truck.

I hate seeing dead deer in the road. I'm lucky I have not had an encounter with one.
A couple of years ago I thought I ran over a rabbit that darted into the road on rt29 in PA.I felt terrible. I actually went back to look for it after I left the customer, I did not find a carcus so I guess the bunny got lucky.

I've hit two deer and 1 rabbit on the road. It sucks. I feel bad for the animals, but that's what happens when you mix nature with civilization. I also hit a deer when I had deer whistles on, so I do not think they are anything more than a fancy hood ornament.

That is because he had his lucky rabbit's foot.....

I agree with you... I never had any of those "ornaments", but I'm sure they're just to throw away few bucks (bucks from your wallet, not from the forest)...

I saw a car hit a rabbit the other day. The driver got out of his car and poured something out of a bottle onto the dead rabbit, dropped the bottle, and drove off. After a few seconds the rabbit got up and started hopping off, but every few feet it would stop, turn around and face me, and wave at me with one paw. I was curious about the contents of the bottle, so I went over and picked it up and sure enough the label said..."Hare restorer, with a permanent wave."

One thing I can tell you about Deer Whistles. They can and do fill with bugs which obstructs the air flow and defeats the purpose. I have only hit one deer over the years and that truck did not have Deer Whistles.
