Stolen Fuel Cap

We delivered Friday in Richmond, VA, went to the T/A in Ashland, fueled and parked our truck. (I always double check the caps as awhile back I had not put one on properly and fuel splashed all over the tanks)
We had a pick up scheduled in Norfolk on Saturday.
Somewhere around 0400 something woke me up and I had a feeling someone was messing with the truck. I listened for a few minutes heard nothing so I went back to sleep.
The next morning as I was doing my pre trip I discovered a missing fuel cap. The T/A did not have any for sale and we had to go to the Freightliner dealer 40 miles away with full tanks and no cap. I improvised a cap with duct tape and off we went.
We used our GPS to get to the location only to discover they had moved, so off we went to the new location.
We finally found them and purchased a new cap for $63. Over priced in my opinion.
I am asking all members to please be on the look out for my stolen fuel cap. It is about 4 inches across, chrome and has the word Freightliner on it.
But seriously, watch out in the truck stops for thieves and if you see anyone stealing something off my truck I give you permission to use whatever force is necessary to put an end to it. (I meant an end to the thievery) And I will do the same for you.

That's terrible, but it is also terrible what dealers charge for parts $63.00 for a fuel cap that is ridiculous:eek:

I have had caps stolen, tanks drained, two different anti-siphon things busted through, and a pair of locking caps mess up so bad I had to take a day to get them off the tanks. I gave up, put the old caps on and have yet to be bothered since.

Fuel cap for a Sprinter is like ten bucks. :D

Good thing, too, cause the underside of the cap rusts like crazy and the cap needs to be replaced annually.

Sprinters use fuel? I thought they were magic. :p We have had fuel taken once. Never had a cap stolen. Those chains are easy to brake or remove from the tank. I don't know if there is a good answer to this one.

Engrave stolen from your name. So every time they fill up or get truck serviced they will be reminded. Or paint em flourescent pink :D

I like the paint idea [I had a cap stolen once], and have already applied it to my aluminum load bars.
My new Save a Load bars are already purple. :D
