staying at campgrounds--what do you do there?

I suppose if there's a pond and you like to fish, that would float your boat. Otherwise, what do you do there?

I Plug in and turn the ac on then i usually use their wifi and watch movies and of course ya gotta take at
least 2 showers to make the stay worth it. Then again I stayed at one that had
Karaoke at night and bingo during the day.

Enjoying having a yard with a camp fire instead of a parking lot. Much more relaxing!

When we go to a campground with our truck it is to rest and get ready to run again.
We'll use the showers, do laundry, use the dump station, refill the water tanks, read,
write and get lots of sleep. Depending on the spot and schedule, we might also cook
out or take a hike. Friendly chats with our camping neighbors often develop.

Play horse shoes. Fish. Hike. Ride my skateboard. Grill my food. Meet interesting people. Bird watch. Communicate with the mother ship.

I just walk and watch the clouds go by, the trees blowing in the wind and the deer that just walk by in peace. No one there that talks shop, nice showers , fireup the old coleman and cook in peace and just take in the silence. I like waterfalls, they to are calming.

Wake up, spend the whole day, and fall asleep hearing Nature sounds, instead of noisy trucks!
Sometimes, driving along, I wonder how our forebears traveled [on foot or horseback] through terrain that looks so inhospitable - we really are quite far from 'natural' most of the time.
Except when we're sitting around a campfire, but it couldn't have been that great before marshmallows came along. ;)

Ok, so how often do you do this? And what's the cost range? If it's closer to $5, you could eat at McDonald's one less time and it would pay for itself. But if it's more like $30, you wouldn't want to do it more than once a week, I'd guess. As somebody pointed out, it would sure beat a hot, noisy parking lot.

I'm a Good Sam member so I get discounts at a lot of campgrounds ... I rarely pay more than $20 since I am fully self contained and generally opt for a tent campsite. Plenty of places have a day use section where you can park from dawn til dusk for less money and still get access to the showers but perhaps just walk a little farther.
