I live in Ohio where individual (Sole Proprietor) income is taxed at every level of government. In addition to Uncle Sam, the state, the city you work in, and the city you live in are all after a slice of the gross.

What is individual the income tax situation in the surrounding states??
I'd appreciate some info from folks living in MI, IN, KY, TN.

There may be a move in my future, but I'd rather ease my tax load than add to it!

I lived in WYO for a number of years, and they have no individual income taxes....quite a drive from the freight lanes though!

I live in Ohio also. You could be worse off in some of the suronding states.Indiana for example socks you with a personal property tax in addition to those you have listed. Also their vehicle registraton fees are much higher.

I too live in Ohio. Redytrk is right. Be sure you look at all taxes because IMHO it balances out when you look at everything.

The Owner who once went by RACEMAN but due to the outcome of the Nextel Cup, am now just 6.

Rex:
Tennessee does not now have a personal income tax.
Over the past several years, though, there has been much agitation by the state government to introduce an income tax.
That may yet come to pass.
The real-property tax is moderate.
The sales tax (even on food) is 9.75 percent in many counties (including the metro areas).
The total tax burden is not overly oppressive in Tennessee.
Happy New Year!
Doc.
