could someone point me in the right direction. I have a straight truck with a sleeper and 16ft box. I have my own certificate of authority and insurance. I am looking for a dispatcher or a dispatching company.

May I suggest the Newbie portion of this site. Someone there will try and help you. Trust what they tell you and you will be OK. There are however only a few on this site with their own authority.
good luck

As Robsdad mentioned, I would start at the newbie section and the FAQ section. Then you have to decide if you are doing expedite loads, or basically LTL. Those are two different things. Also to serve your purpose, I would read back at least six months of the General Forum to gain a working knowledge of what the independents do, and what the leased carriers do. Pros and Cons to both.
