There have been good discussions on auxillary power for the Sprinter van. Turtle has some very insightful contributions to the topic. The generator part of the discussion was left a little bit hanging, since idlebuster had not published information on their apu for sprinters. They have unveiled the apu/ac on their website. Any opinions on what the idlebuster option looks like? Anyone seen one in person?

Interesting solution on where to mount it ....... just stick it on top .....

They don't list on the page how much height it adds ....... I'd say it's a good 12"+ at least. Not sure I'd want to give that up .... would make pulling thru the drive-thru at Starbucks unlikely.

And I'm not sure that between the APU and the roof mounted A/C unit that they aren't exceeding the 330 lb limit that the roof was designed for ..... since the weight of the unit is not listed (FWIW, the Class 8 APU solution is listed @ 250 lbs)

At $7K (installed) it seems a little pricey ..... but hey - that's just me ..... I do my own oil changes for cryin' out loud.

Not many specs on the generator there at all. Fuel consumption, amp output, weight, etc. Will have to look into it, though, and see if they will break it down without their rooftop A/C-heater unit, too.
