THat dipstick has two sensors on it, one for over fill and one for under fill. The oil level must be between the two .. just check the oil with the dipstick?
WEll, the dipstick has two markers on it, but they aren't sensors. The Oil Sensor (detects oil level, oil temperature, and oil quality) is located in the oil pan.
Check the dipstick, obviously, but if the dipstick looks fine but the display on the dash says it's overfilled, then there is a malfunction of the oil sensor or the ECU.
"Can I ask what the reason is for oil level or wrong bulbs disabling the cruise, or is it just a Sprinter quirk?"
Older model Sprinters (03 and older, I think) had a dual filament bulb for the brake/tail light. You could actually insert it upside down, which would result in your brake lights always being on when you're driving, and they would go out as soon as you applied the brakes. Nice, huh? They don't want you driving around like that, so in most cases (all as far as I know) the vehicle won't even start when the bulb is installed incorrectly. You have no idea how many people had to get their vehicles towed in for repair, when all they had to do was flip the bulb.
