Sprinter 3500 Deck

Actually if I had a C Unit I'd be able to get a big sleeper but with the Sprinter I'd have to scale down considerably.
I am thinking I could build a convertible sleeper in the Sprinter,i.e. with the 31" left of space between the seats (allowing 150" for 3 pallets) I would put in my perm. things. I would have a sealed & vented battery box, inverter mounted on top with 2 golf cart batteries, small refrig.,porta potty,sealed storage compt. for a digital inverter generator (3500 kw weight 70 lbs),etc.
I would make the bed for a min. crossways that would be folded for sleeping with 3 pallets. I haven't quite figured out the fold downs to the rear but it would be sectional with inserts. After years of working on Submarines and underway on Destroyers it's surprising how much you can convert small spaces.

I don't know why you would want a C unit, they are limited and depending on the company, you would compete with vans and box trucks anyway. It sounds like you want the apartment on small wheels without the problems of wheeling a big truck around - right?

I don't know if there isn't a glut of C and D units on the market(?!?), I saw a few on eBay and truck paper rather cheap. They may not have 96" sleepers but who really needs that much floor space anyway?

I would get a box van, 15 feet is a lot of room to work with.

Basically my codriver (wife) doesn't want a larger truck. She'll accept a C Truck but not a D. I drive a 26' box truck for a mail contractor so I'm fine with it. Wouldn't an apartment on wheels be great!? LOL.
Most of the folks I know that are running d units ( some with class 8 TVAL) say that at least 60% plus of their loads could be B or C.
I agree a small cube truck with a Powerstroke may be a good compromise. You sure could use frame attached boxes for extra batteries,generator,etc.
I do apprciate all of your input,it really provokes thought.
Which of the decent size companies accept these units?

before the 07's came a long you cut 4'' out of each wheel
you would have 51''
but with 16'' tires not able to change it
also it would be about 1,500 to 3,000 depending on who would do it

also would have to be done by authize body shop to cover the warranty to van
