Veteran Expediter
story here :
TheTrucker.com - America's Trucking Newspaper
(LoL, (an Expedite truck strike a PU, and we all needs speed limiters...)
this is yet another example of how large carriers use gov. to regulate competition out of business.
misleading the DOT, and flat out lie.
Extract : "The report said that the researchers included data from 20 truck fleets, approximately 138,000 trucks and more than 15,000 crashes. Approximately 15 percent of the crashes were identified as speed limiter-relevant. "
so the average fleet to be used in the study have 6,900 power units
no word what so ever about how speed limiter effect the safety of small fleets, but don't expect Bill Graves to say so.
in my letter, and my presentation, to Anne Ferro last week in MATS, i claimed just that.
i said that as long as they keep listening to the ATA they will continue to be fed with the wrong incorrect data.
the only conclusion of this study, is that speed limiters are good for large carriers. there for they are the ONLY ones needs to be regulated, and that's leveling the playing fields for Yh'a.
it's time for the FMCSA to find a way to move more of the freight using experience drivers.
