The strap never hurt my pysch any....not violent nor behavioral problems....I don't resent school or society....these so called "experts" blah....................
In fact when faced with a temper outburst the thoughts of the strap looming in my mind was enough most times to make me stop and think about what I was about to do....*L*

And just look how the school has turned around. The threat of a licking is quite sufficient now. And it seems most of the parents are grateful...and the teachers can now teach instead of babysitting. All in all, a win win situation.
I was Raised with a Belt across my Butt Many Times (Sometimes taking the Blame for something my Brothers did) and I don't think it Harmed me any. I also Raised my Kids (4) The Same Way and that pretty much kept them in Line, Now they are Successful Adults with "NO" Problems with the Police at all. They should Fire all those Bleeding Heart Know it All So Called experts who term this kind of Punishment as Abusive.

They want results...they want to look good as well...and he does just that....Reminds me of the movie Lean on Me...

Went to Catholic grade and high schools. Yes, they did swat ya if you "asked" for it. But the threat of it was enough o keep my two brother and me in-line. PLUS the idea of what would happen at home once Mom and Dad found out. Parents had a belt, but it wasn't a beating, just 3 swats - enough to get your attention and make you reflect upon your errors. Would rather have Mom do it than Dad. And then there was the threat of...you want me to tell your Dad??????
I'm 50 and the youngest of 3, we came out alright. Sometime ya got to get their attention! Most times kids will "turn-off" the Mommy radio that repaeats the same old stuff. How ever a swat makes ya listen!
I like his method of LISTENING to the kid first to see if there is an underlying reason the kid is acting up. If its just to be a smart-azz, then the kid's azz needs to samrt a bit.
Often times the mere humiliation of going to the office is enough to straighten the rest of the bunch out.
