Is there a company out there that is better for Solo drivers? I've drove a straight truck (D unit) for FXcc as a Solo, but I feel that maybe LandStar might have more oportunites/loads for solo straight truck D unit???

For myself I cant make "Search" do anything I want. But you can try. Type in something like "solo, D unit" and you hopefully will find pros & cons for different outfits. John Clarks driver seem happy on the whole.

As a solo, you'll most likely do better at the smaller companies. They are less likely to leave a solo sitting while giving a team that 500 mile load. If, when talking to a recruiter, they push you to team, you can count on them preferring teams.

I assume you are asking as a O/O. A knowing, speaking relationship with a smaller company is better than a computer driven relatioship with a larger company where you are just a voice in the crowd. Talk to them. Ask for specific examples of solo O/O load activity. If you are supplying primary insurance, make sure you are getting paid for it. Make sure there is a regular pay schedule. Make sure someone who can and will make a decision is always available. What source do they use to figure miles? I have talked to quite a few companys and would reccemend PTLLC, DeMaris Transportation, On-time Express, and Diamond Delivery. Others that seem to have a good reputation are Expressway Inc. and Daystar Trucking.
Good Luck!
