Just curious, what averages not the last few weeks but over the past year is the weekly average in revenue to the truck. Coordinator gave me a figure of 1,700.00 can anyone out there confirm this #, seems very low to me.

Running as a single $1700 sound about right to me as an average. You will get weeks where you do $2600 and weeks of $900. Hope this doesn'tupset you too much. Of course HOS is the big brother to keep you from earning much more and I think the next go around is going to make it worse for the single driver.Organizations such as Crash and PATT seem to have one function and that is to regulate every bit of our day including urinal breaks.x(

It is different for every truck. A go getter that knows how to get along with dispatch and understands where to be for freight can count on 2000 a week and more. I have a driver that knocks that down every week. He is as close to a master as I know of. He also followed my freight mapping program. I have another who will not buy into the program and smarts off to dispatch and without me getting in the middle of it that truck would average out about 1600. Know the business get along with people and be willing to go and 2000 and up is not a stretch.

I agree Raceman, you hit the nail on the head! There is way to much whinning, and not enough cooperating goin on out here. The term work smart not hard is the recipe for success!

Yes, but when you're a newbie whose been quoted a figure and get way below it, you wonder why. Dispatch usually won't help, and a company that large cares less if you make it or not. The "whining" as you would call it is either followed by a repo or bankruptcy if it's not remedied... so I would not take it lightly. Raceman said his non-comformist driver gets 1600 miles/week avg. If my truck averaged that, I would be a lot happier. Ya know... things tend to piss an o/o off when they believe they're doing everything right and not making the grade. So when you say someone is whining to dispatch, maybe it's not just cause they're sitting for a couple of hours... maybe it's cause they can't make this month's truck payment. There is alot of deperation in this business. While there are whiners in every sense of the word: "I'm not deadheading 86 miles for a 300 mile run." ... most of us have legitimate gripes that seem to fall on deaf ears. And there's only so much "keep the faith" BS a guy can take ;-)

T Hawk, I wrote a number of months ago and was pointing out that when folks are not doing well they have to move on, they have to find a company that fits them. I took it on the chin a bit for those comments but it is true. If a truck owner and driver or o/o are not happy with income at some point you have to make a decision on what to do for your business. I agree with you. Each of us are the only ones that know what we need to make and if we are happy or not. If it is running everyday that makes a person happy that person needs to be where that happens. If it is running every other day that makes the individual happy that is what that person has to find. If the loaded miles are not enough for us we have to look to other options. I really do not know any of these companies that come right out and say we are slow our business is down we have no idea when it will pick up. They all say all is well being a little slow now is normal and it will be better next week. I have always heard that. Reality when it comes to BP's question is that 2000 miles a week is not a weird thing. You can do 2500 and little above and run legal. Granted all has to be going right. Freight, getting along with dispatch and so on but that is doable. I think the fact that someone told him 1700 a week shows that they are being honestly conservative. He can do better and can expect better but at least by being told 1700 is about normal when he does much better he will feel very good about himself and his business. That can be done. Don't get me wrong I hear your side of the story. I am crying at night over one of my trucks and I am told the same things you are. I also have a truck that saves my butt every week. If they both run well for a couple of weeks, I party with a 20 ounce Mountain Dew instead of a can.
