Slush Busters revisited

With snow and ice headed our way we were once again reminded about how much we love our slush busters. These are the simple little plastic things you attach to the windshield. The wipers bump these things and it bumps off the snow and ice so you don't have to pull over, get out and bump the wipers yourself. We used these all last winter and many times had drivers at the pumps ask us what we were doing to keep our wiper blades so clean and such. One driver even said he just broke his frozen windshield wiper trying to get the ice off.

Now here is the catch. The web site where these are sold is not working. It isn't working at all! I finally got through to them by phone. We are ordering two more sets to have an extra on hand and to give as a gift. They only cost $11.99 a set.

If you are interested in getting a set or two of these Slush Busters you can send an email to them and they will send you the info and the price for shipping/tax and so forth. The email address is:
[email protected]

This is a great gift idea for folks who live in snow areas.

Remembering the praise SlushBusters received here in the Open Forum last year, we recently ordered a set. They are now at home waiting for us to pick them up. It will be great if they work as well as people say. It solves a very real problem.

I ordered mine last week - sure hope I can get them on before spring! :)
PS It took me a year, because I kept hoping to find them in a store, somewhere, but I guess they can only be ordered online - weird, if you ask me.

JC Whitney carries them. Next time ya pass by their distribution center in Illinois go by and grab a pair. But, they charge more for them than the above link.

Do they make a thumping noise when the wipers hit it? I have never seen these before. Looks like something that would be an aid to driving in the freezing rain.

They do not make noise and they work very well. We also did not notice any access wear on our windshield wipers.

Only draw backs we saw with them was the fact it is harder to clean the windshied and they are not very pretty.

Another tip we learned last year to help keep your windshield free of snow and ice buildup is to lower your sun visors.

Between the slush busters and lowering the sun visors to trap the air against the windshield we were able to see clearly no matter what Mother Nature threw at us.

What a great tip about the sun visors!

The combination of Slush Busters and Michelin Wipers seems to work great for us. The Michelin wipers hold up forever.

I can't wait to see how lowering the sun visors and having the defroster on will work. Seems like that will pretty much cover the whole windshield. A driver told us not to use warm air with the defroster but to use cool air so you don't get the icy condition from melting the snow.

Well, I have to say how disappointed I am with the company that has previously sold the Slush Busters. In the past we have had great success ordering these items and we are amazed at how they take care of the ice and snow on the windshield. For some reason the company is not responding any longer to emails or phone calls.

The good news is that JC Whitney does sell these on their website and here is the link:

Slushbuster WIPER DE-ICING STRIPS : JC Whitney: Auto Parts & Accessories

Sorry for the confusion on my earlier post. I can't explain what happened to this company but at least the Slush Busters are still available.

Moose if they are built like the original slush busters and you apply them right you will be amazed at how much they help. Darn that price is sure a lot higher then it used to be!

Sure wish we would have ordered ours earlier since the price has went up but even at that price they are a bargain!

Just make sure you apply them right as they do not work as well if they are to far off set. Yes I am speaking from experience ok Bob's experience!
