As long as you don't define "night" as to mean "dark outside", yeah, you can.

EDIT: My original reply was to the original post, which consisted of the first sentence only. The edited post containing more information causes me to change my answer to a simple "no", as you will almost certainly not be able to get a few good night's sleep per week while running expedite. Expediting is not a 9-5 job. Well, sometimes it is, but it's usually 9PM to 5AM more often than it is 9 AM to 5 PM. One of the toughest things about expediting solo is sleep management, and if you try to force the issue to sleeping at night and working during the day, attaining a 7900 loaded mile goal just ain't gonna happen.

Remember, the only cure for sleepy is sleep.

My opinion, but I don't think you could hope for both of those goals to be reached in the same month, especially on a consistent basis.

There is one thing missing from this, what truck are you driving?

If it is a van, well no. You have to decide what you want to do and with a few companies they may not like the idea that you can't take a run or three.

If it is a straight truck/TT, yes and no. You have HOS and it is difficult to do but doable where you can get enough sleep to feel refreshed, the reason I like the hos of service, I have 8 to 10 hours I can not drive and for a fat old man like me, I need that sleep. The 34 hour reset, regardless how you cut it helps too by letting you adjust your internal clock and refresh your body - the 34 hours is a bit too long, 24 would be just as good.

7900 miles?

O.K , Good stuff .
Keep educating me .
this is defiantly an issue i need to overcome .
let me be more specific :
i dont have any problem working till 2 am and sleeping till noon.
i dont have any problem starting my day at 3 am. ,
i actually like it that way !
its that all-night grave-yard shift that take me 3 days to overcome ,unless it is a routine.
can i meet my goals , without turning down loads ???
driving a st. truck , 22' dry box.
how often will i 'have' to drive sunset till sunrise ??? doing this job.
more comments are welcome .
thanks.

This business knows no work hours. You just run as they come. When we are running we normally run 24/7 till we finish the load. Most of our runs lately have been in excess of 1000 miles. That requires you to run round the clock in most cases. I don't understand the 7900mi thingy. We seldom run that much in a month and see no need too. We earn good money on less than that. Moose: no one can say whether you can do it, except you, and you won't know yourself, until you try. But - if it takes you 3 days to overcome an all-night shift, then you're going to find expediting very tough.
I too drive solo in a D unit, and most of the loads pick up in the late afternoon, for delivery in the morning. That means driving all night, and sleeping in the early part of the day, usually.
That said, there is no routine in expediting, and if you can't adapt to an irregular schedule, you'll be miserable, I guess. It just depends on how much adapting you can, or want, to do. If your sleep schedule is crimped by the load requirements, you have to choose which to accommodate.

thanks you all for the good advice. keep it coming...
about 4 years ago i did drove the night shift ,
but it was an every night thing ,
so normally it took me a night or 2 to get the clock turn around.
and then i drove for the next 3 weeks , till my next break...
i also was quite spoiled at the time...
it worked great , till i hit a deer at 2 am in P.A
and that was the end of that experiment...
am also fount it to be extrimly dangerous to drive on ICE in the dark...
and that a whole new question , can i park my truck if the road is too dangerous Del. Expedite fright ? ,
will the costumer understand ??

There's no telling whether the customer, let alone dispatch, will understand if you feel it's too dangerous to drive, but as the one on the spot, you have to make the call, no one else. Make the best call you can, and stick to your guns - no one will appreciate it if you have an accident, you know.
On a positive note, I've never had dispatch disagree with my assessment or decision - though shutting down is a rarity. (Ice and heavy fog are excellent reasons to park, IMO)
