Sleeper in box?

Has anyone seen those trucks with the sleeper as part of the box with a little window cut in the side. I believe there is still a cut through to the cab....is there a specific name or manufacturer if these?
Thx.

I've seen a few of those trucks, I figured someone just put a window in. A few warnings if you do something like this. the exhaust can come up through the wood floor or through the rear roll up doors, make sure it its sealed well. And a recommendation for any expeditor....get a carbon monoxide detector

I've only seen a few,and they were home built, personally I wouldn't want one.reminds me to much of a coffin sleeper from the old days.

I have seen a couple awesome ones made in the box in both straights and cube vans. Very well thought out and nicely done. When I first read the title I pictured some homeless guy in his cardboard box on the sidewalks of New York.

I don't know of any manufacturer of them but it is not hard to build one yourself.I had a 26 foot box that I partitioned 20-6. The pain is putting a door on the side of the box for your second exit and the partition wall. That was the only part of the construction that I had US Body do.

Once that was done I built a subfloor high enough to store the batteries and water tanks for the bathroom.Rubber matting on top of cheap linolium on the box bottom. On the main floor,I put the cheap linolium because it was easy to clean. With two layers of that stuff and the rubber matting, you get no exhaust in the sleeper.

Then ,it is up to your creativity as to what you would put in there.I built mine in the early 90's and it was alot tougher then it would be today.Today you can go online and find out how to install just about everything on Youtube:)

I was planning on hitting the road again in the future and I have some awesome websites for the materials if you want them. Total build up today with bath, shower, stove, bedding,tv and cable(wish I had that back then),fridge should run about 6000 if you do it yourself but you will never need a hotel room and you can transfer the box from chassis to chassis.

I built one in my T-300 some years ago and I still kick myself for getting rid of that truck.I loved the sleeper, had a r.v. side door with a screen door, side window, access from the cab, generator, heat,a/c, etc.It was extremely warm and comfortable and quiet. What was nice is that I designed it and built it myself, ran all ofthe wiring, etc.Like I said,I should of never got rid of it,especially being paid for.

We had one in our old straight truck. We loved it. Just make sure it is built to your specs and the partition wall is DOT approved.
