Sitting in a cornfield

So here I am, sitting on a dirt road in a cornfield in Iowa.
Why? Because I made my delivery early and must now take a 30 minute break before I can go to a truck stop to get some sleep.

Sounds much better than some paved parking lot to me.

Sent from my Fisher Price ABC-123.

I've taken my break at pick-up, after loading, twice in two weeks.
Just explained I didn't have a choice and asked where I could park to be as little an inconvenience as possible.

I don't know about the place in question but many places won't allow that.

..I see trucks sitting doing their paperwork before pulling out....or they pull away from dock and go to the corner out of the way IF they can....heck you punch in your POD and go right into the 30 mode...

Some will allow it, some won't. Our requirement to adhere to a law is of no relevance to many shippers.

It all depends on the place. We have been asked/told to leave right away after a delivery a couple of times. It is not always possible to stay.

Even in a van I've been told I have to leave right away. It's happened several times. Chemical and oil refineries, military bases, nuclear power plants, even regular ol' warehouses.

We understand. It's important to rest up before you go to sleep.

I remember when I first leased on at Farm2Fleet I sat in many corn fields and "expedited" many hopper loads to the mills. :-D No logs, no problem.. 30 minute breaks? whenever we could snatch one... :-D That was some fun truckin

Conversly, some may prefer/ require the break in their secure facility, rather than the Walmart Parking Lot.

Not always. We once had a load of 2000lbs of C4 on the truck. The base told us to park over at Walmart for the night. Made sense to me! We did not go. I told him we were going to park in front of the gate or he could get us into safe haven. Funny, he suddenly remembered they had such a thing.
