Mrs. Layoutshooter and I went to a meeting of our local Ducks Unlimited chapter meeting tonight. We got to spend the evening with many friends which is always a wonderful thing.
During the meeting we were informed that our chapter was no longer in the "Top 100" club for D.U. chapters. Strange looks came over the faces at the meeting. We had a banner year, lots of very hard work and dedication had produced a lot of money. THEN, we were told that the reason we were no longer in the 'Top 100' was because we have moved into the NEXT higher level of "Elite Status"!!!!!! Our little chapter in little Monroe County Michigan had raised OVER $115,000 this year! That is money that was sent to Duck Unlimited National for conservation work! I is a GREAT honor!
That is REAL conservation work. 10's of millions of acres wetlands protected, rehabed or restored! It was not done by government, not done by passing laws, it was done by hard work of dedicated volunteers, all over North America, with one goal in mind, protecting and saving wetlands.
We are proud to be committee members for Ducks Unlimited and doubly proud to be a part of one of the finest chapters in North America.
Anyone wishing to do your part, you are always welcome, we could use the help! Now that we made "Elite" we intend to stay there, which means even more work. Come on out!
