Silly Write-Off

Save your ATM receipts. Why? That fee they charge can be written off as a business expense. You'll get enough back to buy a 20 oz coffee and a paper :D

Weave,

Its not such a silly write off as you think, add to the ATM, your Com-data fees, bank charges, Fed-Ex or mailing charges of your freight bills, this all adds up, you would be supprised the total of what you might spend in these fees alone.
then added to all the other expenses that you spend for your truck, these charges would be listed and added to you office expense, or listed separately in Misc. Expenses as Bank Charges.
If you feel that any deductions are silly, Give me a Call and I can send you a list of all deductions that you are allowed for your Truck, weather it be a "b, C, D, or E Unit".

So true. And now here is one for you: Wouldn't it just be easier to get the ATM fees & bank charges from your monthly bank statement? That way you only have 12 sheets of paper to go through instead of (as in my case) about 50 million reciepts! Plus you not only get the fee the ATM charges, but you also get the fee your bank charges you to use that ATM. Not all ATM are equal, either.

In answer to Erics Post,
I think that it goes without saying that if you have a checking account with an ATM that you would get all the information from your bank statements. so the receipts are not necessary. but they are for the other items.

Nothing silly about it that I can see, we thought of it several years back. Sometimes it's as much a $4.00 a transaction. Another point to ponder: with all the bank mergers going on right now, you probably will have more free ATM's available. We use Michigan National and they merged with La Salle and Standard Federal Bank, so we can use their machines too.

As to the Tax Rebate thing, you gotta remember it's UP TO $600. If we see more than $100, we'll be singin' "Pennies from Heaven".

I havn!t paid a ATM fee in years. What I do when I need cash is to go to a Walmart,Meiers,Supermarket etc, purchase something that I need ,then pay for it with a ATM Card and get cash back. There is no charge for this service,so even if you need a $2.00 item in Walmart you can get cash back up to (I think) $100.
