After learning the hard way here is a belt # for the MBE 260 manufactured in 2006.
This belt will get you off the road after a air conditioner compressor failure or pulley failure on the a/c.
It took my service call 3 trips to come up with one that fits.

This belt will fit over the crank, fan hub and alternator.

But you'll have no air conditioning....I'm waiting for the techs to replace the condenser that just took out the fan belt on the Sterling. They offered to short belt it, but as they actually have the compressor, [and it's still pretty hot in many places], we're replacing it.
Load to Connecticut is gonna be late, sigh....:(

How does the condenser take out the belt?

Are you talking about compressor failure?

What are the actual specs of the belt - for example 210mm x 32 6 rib belt

True no a/c, but by having the belt ya can countuine untill ya drop the load and get either home or your fav shop and not get stuck for hours while mechinac makes trips back and forth. It just buys a little time. Short belt will only get ya off the road,ya still going to get stuck with a repair.
I had mine fixed right away also, but mine broke as I was leaving the guard shack after i emptyed out..Was closing my barn doors when it locked up and shattered..I heard the noise but couldnt get to the cab in time to shut the truck down. It proplely was to late anyways after the noise hit.

What I assume happened is the clutch locked up. The belt was broke like someone cut it with a knife (straight line and very brittle on both side of break. Compressor also had a Large crack in it that opened up on the bottom side of it going between 2 of the mounting bolts

With-out reading backwards,,,,A/C compressor,,maybe I'm calling a compressor a condenser here ya got me confussed..:D Its for the air conditioner..Sorry I know squat about a/c.
8 rib
The mechanic did mention the length of the belt I Think he said 62 inch but dont quote me,,after he made 3 trips on my dime,,I stopped listening to him. The belt # should be able to be crossed over if someone needs to do it over the phone its a good number. Alliance is a freightliner #

Yep - I meant compressor, not condenser [which was repaired last week, and we knew the compressor was on the way out, just hoped it would hang in awhile longer].
Long night, longer morning, sigh, but it's almost done.
Who knew it'd be this hot in late Sept?! It's nearly 90 in half the US!!

Actually if they charged me for more than one trip, I would have lost it with them. Grab the belts you think it will be and then go from there, no excuse for multiple trips.

The number is a common one, I just thought that you had it handy.

The compressor is what goes bad, the bearings in the compressor pulley go bad and for some reason it is cheaper to replace the entire unit instead of the bearing and pulley set.

Questions questions questions.....Anybody know the short belt part number for a Cat C-9 in an '07 M2 pre-emiss. Compressor starting to hum a bit at 470k mi.s, thinking it's a good time to replace it before it goes and dumps a lot of trash thru out the system, or worse case scenario, throws a belt thru a radiator or coolant/oil/fuel line. Still blows nice and cold so no trash apparent yet. How long will a compressor last after the noticeable humming starts? I'm thinking it's days are numbered. Thanx for all the answers answers answers.
