If you have a Shore Power wired truck as we do this is good news. No word yet on the cost. I have signed up for the free trial, and will let you know when cost is revealed.

They have retro kits available for those who are interested in adding shore power to their truck.

Are you sure you have full shorepower? reason I'm asking is Alumi-Bunk did my apu and did their own shorepower and it only covers some of the plugins and refridge not the ac/heat. the proheat shorepower is an expensive addon. don't get me started on the proheat.

Shore Power is a misnomer.

First thing is that shore power should power everything on the truck, rv or boat. I looked at a lot of these shore powerkits and installs and really think some are cobbled together by picking and choosing items out of a catalog.

Second is that many companies who sell expensive kits can be put together for a third or a quarter of the price. The biggest thing is the install of the items in order to give you good service, not super high quality chinese sweatshop made plastic componets.

Third, after looking at the 'services' that Idle Aire and other companies offer, Well I think that just give me somewhere to plug in, charge me a real and acceptable rate (I mean make a little profit off of the electricity I actually use) and make is possible to use it for what I want to use it for - A/C, Sat, Computer, Kiln, 10 MW transmitter to call the mother ship.... what ever. I don't buy this cr*p that it has to be overly complicated, 'high tech' or anything like that where a company has to invest millions to provide the access to electricity. There has been simple systems that provide access/billing that have been around for the last 70 years.

This is a step in the right direction, I beleive, that will likely be followed by other shore-power concepts. Now, if we could just keep truck drivers from running over the things, that would be a step in the right direction too.

I don't know about other shore power concepts, I can't see much more than what has been done in the RV world.

But Phil I think you hit the nail on the head when you said; "Now, if we could just keep truck drivers from running over the things, that would be a step in the right direction too."
