Shipping Wars Star Dies

Roy Garber, star of*A&E Network‘s popular reality series Shipping Wars, has died of a heart attack in Texas. He was 49.*Shipping Wars*has been a staple on A&E since its January 2012 debut; the show’s fifth season finished its 12-episode run this week. It is unclear how Garber’s death will affect the reality series’ future.“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the A&E family,” the network said in a statement tonight. “Our thoughts are with Roy’s loved ones during this difficult time. He will be missed.”

Hate to hear this, so young. Not a fan of the show but I do remember him from the one time I watched. I'm sure he'll be missed by those who follow and love Shipping Wars.

I liked him, he seemed as though he was one of two real drivers. The rest seemed like flakes to me, especially the young couple where she looked like she just stepped out of the makeup booth. Obviously they did not sleep in their truck. He was also very innovating and the rest except the other older guy I would not hire.

if A&E pad me 700000 per yer to play like a trucker lke they do chris and robie I would most likely stay in hotels and tear out th walls. Roy got 800k per year to be on the show to bad he won't get to enjoy it.

Those are net worth figures, not their salary. I couldn't find any figures, but what I did see would suggest that it's nothing remotely in the ballpark of that kind of money.

Supposedly the Storage Wars participants are getting $25k per episode plus some other perks. They don't get to keep the "treasures" they find which are "salted" for the show. Shipping Wars isn't as highly rated and somewhere I think I saw something about $10k per episode. They also said Brandi on Storage Wars got implants from the show to increase the "sex appeal" of the show.

Sad state of affairs when your in the so called Prime of life, doing what you enjoy, RIP ROY....It was fun while it lasted...after reading he had a heart condition Its sad....I hope his cat found a good home.

Roy's current Chevrolet Silverado was a black 4X4 and had ARBIES Transport all over it. (He blew the engine in that Red Silverado he had in the first 2 seasons)

Roy you will be miss and you were the show. One reason why I watch the show is to see how they did on there runs and just to see what Roy had to say. Shipping Wars will not be the same without him. Way to young to pass away, but we dont know whats at stake down the road.
