This afternoon I posted on the Border Crossing Forum. My question delt with a QC fleet message from Friday about crossing back into the U.S. The message stated as of this Monday a security seal and C-TPAT security inspection were required to enter into the U.S. wether loaded or not.

2 hours after posting I get a load to Winnipeg, MB picking up at 04:30 Thursday. Dispatch looked into the QC message. (They knew nothing about it). Apparently this does not apply to vans. I guess I will find tomorrow after delivering.

Greg, you are correct. A van can not be sealed. If things don't go well my van may be sealed in yellow crime tape. I've got to be on a lake in Northern Minnesota Friday afternoon. Gone to bed. Gone to Winnipeg. Gone fishing!

I crossed back into the U.S. no problems. The truck lanes were backed up so I went into the passenger car lane. The nice lady asked for my I.D. I complied. The nice lady asked to look in the back of my van. I complied. The nice lady said, "Have a nice day." I complied. The nice lady never asked for the $5.00 crossing fee. What a very nice lady indeed!

I have heard of people that did'nt have such a good time when they did this. If you are commercial you are supposed to go through with the trucks.

I cross at Pembina, ND 5 or 6 times a year. I have used both the car and commercial lanes when empty and have been told I'm in the wrong lane. Somnetimes I'm charged $5.00 and other times not. They aren't very consistant.

I did that ONCE and ONLY ONCE. I got lectured for 15 minutes and then told to wait and waited another 10. Then I got lectured by the shift supervisor or what ever she was about why I needed to be in the 'Commerical Lanes'. It was almost as bad a the time I was directed to the FAST lane and went through Canada's idea of a corrective measure.
