Since we already have an APU, we checked the "single tires" and "auto-inflaters" in this calculator. It resulted in a savings equal to about a 2 1/2 year payout for the costs of the added equipment. In my opinion, that's not worth the effort. Now the APU is another story. Not only saving idle costs, but wear and tear on the primary engine. Plus one can transfer the APU to another unit when it comes time to trade-in. ;-)

We have done some research on the super single tires and it does not look as if they are legal on a straight truck unless you have some sort of stabilizer. Hoping at the truck show in March to do some more research on this.
