Sometimes you must have a motel room. It could be while the truck is in the shop or whatever. Here's a source for very good discounts on rooms. Most are no more than half the rack rate and some are as much as maybe 2/3 off.

And people don't believe in the missing link. :p Well, maybe this time it will stick. www.checkincard.com If you put the word friend in the referral box you'll save the $9.95 signup fee too.

I just signed up for a Discount Card thru OOIDA, it works like a charge card they bill you at the end of the month. It also has a Location Guide you call and the rate is pre-set. It is designed so that when Motels do not fill up they are happy to put you up for a huge discount. It can also be used over the internet.

You must pay Taxes and any charges to the room at check out, you recieve a bill at the end of the month. Another driver told me about this and he likes it, as soon as I get the info I will post it here. These are usually upgraded motels/hotels.

Just for grins I put in a local zip code that's near an area that could have freight in or out. Prices range from $30-95 a night. The $30 is for a La Quinta which is an acceptable chain. Other national members are Red Roof, Days Inn, Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn among others. I've used it 4 times and the highest I paid was $39 for a Days Inn.

A little confused at the ad, what does this mean?

"There is a fee, but there is no cost"

Isn't a fee a cost?

I have three different discount cards that I don't really use and put in the SDB so my wife don't get any ideas. Two were provided by my employer and one I received when I owned part of a consulting company as one of my few perks and for the most part don't expire. I have used all of them a few times and the first two don't cost me a dime to use but the last one cost me $3 each time I use it. They all work at a lot of chain resturants, like Applebees, Logans and other fine eating establishments. I stopped using them because the meetings we were having ended up at high end hotels - which by no means accepted them.

I would recommend them.

We have used the Corporate Lodging for some time now. Most recent trip included a $27 night in Needles, CA and a week at $75 a nite in a Holiday Inn in downtown Burbank, CA. Been good to us.

Thanks for the info, Leo. I just enrolled with them and compared their rates with Trip Rewards, which is the hotel discount service I've been using. They are $15-20 less than Trip Rewards per night for economy hotels, and $25-40 less per night for premium hotels.
