Satellite TV for the truck

We switched from cable to satellite a couple of weeks ago and my wife ask the installer if I could have TV in my truck from a satellite dish.

He said, if we buy the satellite box ($75) and a dish ($25) and I figure a way to mount and position it that it would cost us an aditional $5.00 per month.

Does that sound right?

Would it be difficult to position the dish if I'm alone outside the truck?

Has anyone done it?

Thanks.

We have done it. The setup with a pole is dificult.I recomend a crank up model. Of course if you have a big budget you could go for a "In Motion" model. Heres a link. They also install. http://tinyurl.com/27b2sr

I know the $5 monthly is correct. I don't know about purchase price of components. I've seen trucks with a home style dish on a pole a very very few times. The domes are much more common but I'm sure more expensive. For that you get the ability to adjust and tweak it from inside rather than having to go in and out of the truck. You can choose to step up to automatic positioning and even in motion viewing, depending on how much you spend.

Id like to do the pole temp mount thing. Like a lot of you we see the PVC mounted to mirror support. But ive never seen the driver set it up.

Anyone know the step by step or can you direct to a place I can get all the pieces parts. I see camping world has parts but not specific to mirror mounting nor are they providing info for user setup.

Id like to at least try. I see on ebay i could get all the parts for well under a hundy.

If there's no one home when you're on the road, you can take the receiver with you and avoid the extra 5 bucks a month.
