Satellite Questions

Apologize in advance for not posting in tech forum but am looking for exposure here.

1) what is the best setup for a D truck with the Alumibunk sleeper in terms of antenna placement (mirror mount or roof somewhere or just windshield)?

2) What does your system/setup look like and where is your antenna?

3) Who did your installation?

4) If you installed it yourself, how long did it take?

5) Do you use a stereo system that was satellite ready?

6) Did you decide on xm or sirius for reasons that might influence our decisions?

If you are going to stay in the same truck for a long time , then it is well worth the money to get it installed .
about 100 + $ , you will need to call ahead for appointment , almost every Best buy , Fry's ,Ext. ,about 3 hours.
If not , get the one that transmit to your radio .
look at your radio to see if it got a MP3/Aux input.
if you choose to get power from the fuse box (not the AC/cigarette lighter ) , just make sure to have a fuse along the way.
Dont think you will get better reception with the aftermarket antenna's , just get the mouse magnetic one ,and place it in the middle of the roof ,
I actually once seen antenna mounted to the Qwalcomm dome...
The mirror are not a good place , it will cut off the signal when you are next to the tree line , or being passed by a truck .

We just heard that people mount them on the fiberglass with velcro. That was one of the issues we were running into. Thanks for the idea about the qualcom, Moose.

We have had Sirius for 5yrs and have had a mirror mount mushroom style antenna since day one and never had any problems with trucks passing or tree lines or anyother issues.
