It seems that a hot topic lately is the sig line idea. All members who post should announce their "time in service" and credentials as a means to judge their credability.
This additional formatting to a posting was suggested with the best interests of the members of this forum in mind. Most of all "newbies" who are intently searching for all clues for success in the expediting industry.
I have lived long enough to excperience the fact that in whatever industry or profession you seek advice or council, the quality of advice you receive varies. The credentials or position of the individual giving answers is not always an indicator of whether your concerns are answered correctly. The individual that you seek advice from also has very different life experiences than you.The answers you receive may seem askew when compared to your experiece.
HOWEVER TAKE HEART. THERE IS SAFTY IN NUMBERS! The beauty of a forum like this is that many people may respond to a question or concern. Totally incorrect info will usually be "rooted out" by others more knowledgeable or experienced. just my opinion.

One problem with credentials is, they may not be true! Another problem is, they could be true but the guy is still an idiot. I think common sense is the only way to go. We have a rating system on here that shows some ppl have an amount of experience, and have shown good advice in the past. If I didn't know Davekc, I could easily think that he could be blowing smoke with his 20 years, and could've been an owner operator of his fleet of one ice-cream truck. I know otherwise because not only have I read his rating feedback, but I contacted him. He knows his stuff! Others I haven't contacted on here, but I know in the way they post how truthful they are. I don't need to see any self-proclaimed medals and ribbons to know who knows what... the proof is in the post.

Sometimes the old experienced doctor is adequately good while the new but inexperienced doctor is excellent. It doesn't matter what the field is there are all levels of quality and expertise at all levels of experience. You hit it on the head that the key isn't what braggadocio one puts on their signature line it's their real world knowledge and experience that counts. Those who spend more than a little time on this board can probably tell who to pay attention to.

I agree. For the folks that visit often, it is of little benefit. However, for the new, it helps identify the source until they have become aware of all the members.
