Rookies looking to change careers

Hello folks.As this is our first posting I'll be brief about who we are and the goals we hope to achive....

We are rookie team drivers looking to get on with the best training possible,to get on the road quickly and start our new carriers.We are in our mid 40's and want to change direction with our job situations.I being a musician and Kim being a home care giver,we both want/love to travel and are very much looking forward to getting into expedite trucking as a team and boost our incomes at the same time.We hope to some day be o/o eventually and are looking forward to future.

We need advice from people who have started from the ground up on where to go for schooling and training in driving straight trucks for xpediter companys.Since we both live in Indianpolis,we are seeking a place close to home for this training.

We will be keeping an eye out and studying past threads in this forum for all the help we need since it looks like this is the place to go for information.

before a good answer to your question,we all need to know,if you are planning to get your a,or b cdl's.in which ever case,if you check the advertisements looking for drivers,you can contact many owners that you can get started with,and learn the expedite system as you go.the 1st thing you must do is go to truck driving school and get your liscenses,then an owner can get with you and your training will begin

whatever u do dont goto Expedite Solutins and get ur CDL case u will get ripped off by them

Nightcreature usually gives good advice, but I think he goofed on this one, saying "you must go to a driving school to get your CDL" - not true! There are ways to get the CDL without forking over big bucks to a school, and several have been discussed here, like renting a truck. If you read the Newbies Forum & FAQ, you'll get some good ideas on different ways to accomplish your goal. A driving school may be the one you choose, but it's not your only option. Good luck, and keep us posted on how it goes, ok?

cheri,yes i made a mistake,but if they are going after an a cdl,they will have to go to a driving school,or even a b,fed ex makes then do a driving test at a drivng school,that is authorized by them

The key though with FedEx Custom Critical is if you do not have enough experience you only need to pass a drive test which is a lot less expensive then the school. You do need a Class A or Class B though first. When I started I had my Class A but I did not have enough recent experience so they had me go to a approved school and do a drive test with an instructor. No big deal 100.00 later I was back on the road.
