Too many things to drive you crazy. I looked at reviews for Chromecast and they are all over the place. Not sure how it compares to Roku. I have to guess internet speed has something to do with some of the poor reviews.

That Amazon box looks interesting.

Too many boxes and sticks!!!! This is insane. There should be a universal one connected to the internet. Then you connect to what you want to watch.
What if every web site you visit required you to have their box/device to connect?
What if every TV Channel wanted a separate box?

Because they use it as a advertising vehicle. Or, just a way in to your computer.

Here's a good article on how Roku compares to the others. Like it says in the article, while "Apple TV, Chromecast, and Fire TV all have their strengths, they also share the same crippling weakness: self-interest. That's what makes Roku so important."

AppleTV is about Apple, Chromecast is about Google, and Fire TV is about Amazon. Roku doesn't care.
