On the other hand, company paid CDL training requires the graduate to work for the company for a year or two - that would scare me off. I'd especially want to know how many students graduate? How many fulfill the terms of employment, vs having to pay for leaving the company [voluntarily or otherwise] before the required time?
Research different independent schools - there are some less than honorable ones that encourage everyone [because the school gets paid whether the student finishes the course or not] and some are ludicrously overpriced.

Try one of the community colleges in your area. If you are displaced due to downsizing or your company went under you might even qualify for re-training compensation. Anyway, these schools are always cheaper & the training is usually better plus you don't owe your soul to any one company. I know that the community colleges with tech classes should be able to direct you to a school with driver training. Good Luck!!

Have heard from a few that got "B" from their local school district
Would give you the benefit if the trucking thing didn't work out, you'd have the training to seek either part or full-time employment as a school bus driver. Plus you'd be eligible for all the benifits.
And since getting a "B" driving buses also give you another endorsement,"passenger" , which would qualify you to drive those greyhound size buses & local limo buses
